E350 car covers

Any suggestions? I park outdoors at work and would like to use it during the day.

Also, we share the lot with the valet who parks cars very tightly and I would like to avoid door dings.

Thank you!

I have a Covercraft Evolution Block-it cover for my car. The cover is bulky but I keep my car outside all the time so I wanted something that could handle the elements. You should, of course, buy a custom fit.

I'd like one as well. Mine chills outside and black means dirty every morning in Texas. Oh, and if only Mercedes made sunscreens with their emblem...sigh

Has anyone used the covers sold by Mercedes? I was thinking about purchasing one. It has a MSRP of $250.

I'd recommend OEM cover: water resistant, heat resistant and nice and soft on the inside....I have one for my CLS and my S too......a great product and IMO worth the loot

Tint all the windows with Huper Optik ... Keeps the heat out and minimize the sun damage to your interior.

Since you bought your car from WI Simonson so I guess you are around LA area, STM Solutions is the best in town with this premium film.
Look them up on yelp. If you need a referral ... PM me.

Thanks Fob, Have you used that website before? Are the items identical to the ones purchased through the dealership?

Car covers should only be used on a car after it has been washed. If you use a car cover after there is road grime, or, even significant dust accumulation on the car's surface, you will introduce light scratches and lots of swirls into the paint. After it rains, car covers are a mess to remove and put on. I would recommend a good paint sealant and more frequent washing. Car covers are bad for your paint.

Thanks Instantfob, I went ahead and ordered it after I checked that its the same part number as the one on the MBUSA website/catalog.
I don't even have the car yet, but I should have it soon! The vessel its on from Germany just docked in Baltimore this morning, so I'm hoping it gets up here in NY soon.

I have a garage, but there are times I can't park in there and I have lots of trees on my property, so any protection will be good.
Thanks again for the link.

Since you are in the tri-state area, probably check out these guys to give your car a proper paint protection treatment.

They are forum sponsors so they should give mbworld folks some discount too

Does the cover have a notch in the front for the star hood emblem?

Thanks Fob, I'll check that out. I'd like to apply a good sealant as soon as I can.

Caligirl, I don't know about the notch, but I'll let you know when it arrives. They didn't ask about sport/luxury.

I'll keep you posted.

Auto Anything is a good source of accessories. Sunshields and mats can be custom made for each vehicle.

Interesting; I paid all the $$$ for Huper Optik 10 years ago when it was the newest and greatest thing and it was (IMO) absolutely no different than 3M tint costing significantly less. Not only that, but it had a tacky metallic look to it (perhaps because it was ceramic?) where I much prefer the smoke look.

I wouldn't recommend spending the extra $$$ on Huper.

Caligal, I haven't got the car yet (Its due into the dealership tomorrow, and delivery scheduled for Sat), but I did just get the car cover today. It does have a little pocket for the star emblem. Not that I need it, because mine is the Sport model. And its a genuine MB cover with logos embroidered in and everything. It also comes with a storage bag. Looks good!
Now, if only I had a car to put it on!

The OEM all weather is a Noah Car Cover. BMW and MB use them. They are excellent year round covers. The have the branded logo on the hood, clear rear license plate surround, and branded attatched storage bag with logo also. Usually for $15.00 more you can get the cable and lock. I highly recommend this cover over all others for perfect fitment and longevity.

Putting a cover on and taking it off can be a PITA. Before I had a garage I had a cover for one of my cars. You cannot easily put it on when the car is wet and I always was afraid of mold. When the car is dry and even slightly dirty putting the cover on and/or pulling it off can produce scratches. High wind will make it flap around at the bottom. I concluded that car covers were for longer term use rather than daily "protection" in that the potential for harm was as great as the potential for good. If you are going to leave a car outside for a week, and it is clean, I can see that, but not on and off every day.

well put: I use one during the week for my weekend car, and my DD is covered during the weekend, it's not on and off like you mentioned, and yes, it will cause small scratches......I have a pretty good system for the cover to go and come off
