@ mike and maki,
I asked MBZCalabasas about this when i picked up my bluetec. I really sought after this specific steering wheel for its awesome handsliding sound and the soft felty touch to it. Nice grip. Sweats a bit but dries off it so fast.

The one reason I thought wood was a good thing to switch to (half wood wheel) is the sun beaming through the windshield while parked all day for 7 years plus hand sweat up there is usually the culprit to the wheel wearing and looking tatterred and patchy. So when that begins to happen im DEFINITELY getting this amazing steering wheel that mike has on his.

BUt yes i believe the gents who spoke of the features of your car having to match the features of the wheel youre swapping in. Not always an easy match!

Would it matter if you do not use certain features? I got one with the lane package but shut virtually all of it off, always... =D

Just looked up my options, this is 289 Wood Leather Wheel.

Honestly, living in New England, I would have chosen the heated wheel if I had ordered, but I do love this wheel. It feels awesome in my hands.

My car is a 2011, not sure if they still offer that wheel today.

I find that swapping out steering wheels on the 14' and up models quite easy. As long as the airbag fits and the functions match up with what you have, it shouldn't be a problem. Ebay has been a very reliable source for cheaper priced wheels, just be very careful that most sellers miss listing any hairline cracks or splits in the wood if there are any.

I just looked at my sticker, and the wood/leather flat bottom steering wheel seems to be 314 (as opposed to 289) for $590, which is the same price as 289.

I would be wary of and out of the dealer or manufacture loop swaps from a warranty voided stand point.
