Comfort

Thinking of ordering a E350 BT Estate 4matic.

How much improvement comfortwise does the airmatic add over the Avantgarde direct control?

Read about uncomforable seats. Have full leather non active multi seats in the order. Are these okey?

How about noise level in the estate at 80mph?

Rear air suspension is standard in North America. There's no option for full AIRMATIC unless you move to a 550 sedan. Regardless, I've always found the car rides very well with this setup.

The car is quiet at speed and I have no issues with the seats, but other opinions seem to vary.

In Europe the Airmatic is possible and the option is not that expensive aprox 2000usd so I am leaning on getting it as I want the car to be comfortable. But maybe the comfort seats would be better than the airmatic for this goal?
As it is a 4-matic I think the standard chassi with Avantgard and AMG package is softer than the 2-wheel drive ones. I am chosing between this or a almost maxed out Land Rover Lr4 which have really nice chairs.

I'm at that point that I have reached my limit on what I want to spend and dont want to remove any other features.

Distronic+, 360 cam with parking, Command online, Led ILS lights are some of the things that I think makes this car special.

take a spin in a model with the "432 Active Multi-contour Driver Seat w. Massage". I have this with the leather option and it is very confortable.

That option is about the same price as the Airmatic so its a good option. Does the manual multi contur seats I have now differ i layout towards the active ones or is it just the same layout but changes with speed and has massage? I think the multi ones seem as a vast improvment over the standard ones.

Anyone more tired a Airmatic vs a non airmatic car? Is it worth the extra?

I used to have an E350 with the sports package (Avant Garde in Europe) without the Airmatic. Now I drive 2010 E550 with it.

In the sports mode it is about as stiff as the non-airmatic and just slightly softer in comfort mode.

But the feature I like a lot is that I can raise my car up. The comfort mode makes the car slightly higher perhaps by 10 - 15 mm but then there is another button that raises it up more. Between sports mode and raised up comfort mode I think it is a 30 - 40 mm difference. This helps greatly when parking the car to avoid scrubbing the front on the concrete in garages.

If your stage name "akarlsson" has any truth with it then you probably reside in Sweden if in Europe and Sweden is known to have snow in winter times, well at least in north of it. The ability to raise the car up can be very handy in some snow conditions. If not in the very north then don't need it for snow but living in southern U.S. I still like Airmatic a lot.

Sweden is correct (great quess). Pretty south but the last few winters have been long and with a lot of snow hence the "need" for 4-matic.

Used to have a Audi A6 quattro with sport chassi and there were no need for higher hight but it doesnt have the splitter as the e-class, it is more round and snow can pass easily.
