Park light within cluster.

Park light within cluster.
Good day gents.
Curious question regarding the 'P' that appears in the center cluster as you slow down or are driving at slow speed.
My assumption is that it appears as an indication that you can put the car in Park.
It does appear when I am driving of speeds of even up to 20km per hour or so.
Of course I have not pushed the park button at any speed but does the fact that it comes up in the dash indicate that you could put the car in Park mode even while driving?

It is the parking sensors telling you that a suitably-sized parking space is being scanned for. If an arrow (or triangle) appears to the right or left (with your left blinker on) it has found a spot you can park in. THEN you need to read the manual on your version of the parking systems available and follow those instructions to have the car help you park or even park itself.
My 2010 E350 had the sensors and gave me instructions how to fit into the spot, I think I used it twice in the four years I had that car. My 2014 E350 has the full parktronics package and has parked itself in tight quarters both in parallel and back-in modes.

Just looked it up and of course it is the active Park assist looking for spots.
Had no idea this even existed to be honest.
Will have to go on the parallel parking spot hunt to see how this works.
Cool.

Press the parktronic button (capital P) on center console to disengage. But this will also effect the distance warnings at low speed.
