perfect timing kash. my local dealer just quoted me $1,195 on a 3 pack on the E550 (down $100 from the quote they gave me over a month ago). I had thought the prices might had changed for the better (what was I thinking). But when I asked the finance rep he didn't think the prices would change. need to call around to get that price they gave you of $1,089 from the email. what dealer was that?

I got the email for MB Austin - I bought my extended warranty from them

This time, I bought the pre paid from Erin MB Santa Rosa - because I wouldn't pay tax on it -

In regards to your quotes, I don't know why your local dealer would make buying the packs at list price so difficult. You shouldn't have to negotiate too hard especially if you know the list price don't see why they won't sell it for that. I guess every dealer has the right to mark up their prices, I would just call MB austin or MB santa rosa and you should be good to go.

"Dear,

If you're looking for a simple and convenient way to save more on service right from the start, we have the answer. It's called the Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned Prepaid Maintenance Plan, and it's here at Mercedes-Benz of Austin.

The pricing on this plan is about to increase, and we don't want you to miss out on this great opportunity to have a greater peace of mind that comes from knowing your service costs are paid.

For more information or to purchase a plan, call Mercedes-Benz of Austin at (512) 454-6821 and ask for Jake Boone.

Sincerely,

Mercedes-Benz of Austin"

I'm surprised they raised prices so high. Maybe the recommended maintenance has changed on the new E class', I'm not sure, but I feel sorry for the guy who buys prepaid for the first 30,000 miles.

Yeah, I thought about trying to get them to match but I don't have a quote yet - only what I have read here from other members. Not that I couldn't try anyway, but to take the time to talk them down and then pay sales tax on top of that I would rather just make a phone call, buy at the low price and save the tax. Both those dealers are out of state for me. The problem I have is getting them on the phone. Haven't gotten a return phone call or email yet. Looks like I better make some time this week.

Interesting, it accounts for the first 10000 miles. 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 would cost 899 and if you add the 40000 jumps up to 1679 for a 2014 e350, I guess you can buy a "5 pack" now and get 5 years for 1999,

But it won't let me start at year 2 and see what a quote would be for for 20,000, 30,000, 40,000

2013 and earlier you have to contact dealers for a quote

Erin was on vacation, and Dan Boone doesn't respond to emails or messages, I had to try for about a week to get him to pick up the phone, but he was super nice and cordial

The email was from Jake Boone (his son maybe?) he's easier to get a hold of, in any case its an MB Austin price, and I think if you talk to anyone in the finance department they should honor the price.

Thanks for the help. If I can't reach them and need that email, I will send you a PM.

I am coming up on my 60/70/80 like drsaab. two majors plus plugs and ATF. The local dealer costs for that a la carte exceed $2,200 and the best local indy prices were in excess of $1,400. So this a deal for me any way I slice it.

I noticed that it starts at 10k only, it is different than the current 3 pack for $999 which could be for instance 20,30,40k of which 20 & 40 are more expensive or the 60,70,80 which are expensive. I didn't try the chart for years earlier, sorry.

I was offered the 3 pack on my 2010 when it was coming up on 40 and it was a bargain, the 2010s required a trans change also. Full price for 40k at the dealer exceeded the 3 pack. The SM explained it was probably designed to keep owners coming up on no warranty without buying an extended one to stay in the tent facing out.

I had 10,20,30 on my 2010 for $769 at the time I bought it just before the 10k. That was the only money I spent on the car in 4 years. Everything else was warranty with no hassles. I was in the tent pointed out. They always threw in tire rotations when I needed or asked for them.

Something to think about when trying to save a few bucks with an indy shop while in warranty.

2011 E350 Sport, P2, Driver Assist Package,
Does anyone know the answers to the following questions I have re prepaid maintenance plans?

1. If the car is sold, or taken out of service before they are used up, is the coverage transferable or refundable?
2. Can you pick and choose which services to apply the coverage to, or does it cover the next 3 consecutive services after the plan is in effect?
3. Is there a pre paid plan for more than 3 services? If not, can you buy 2 plans and have it cover the next, say, 6 services?

Thanks

1) If car is sold, the unused portion will be transferred to next owner. It is tracked by VIN not by owner. It is non-refundable.
2) You cannot pick and choose. It will apply to the next 3 services.
3) There used to be an option for 5, not sure if there still is. but 3 seems to be the sweet spot price wise.

I just got off the phone with a few dealers, it seems not only is the pre-paid maintenance going up, but the extended warranty prices are going up significantly as well.
So for those holding off on buying an extended warranty, might want to get it taken care of before September 3rd.

Oh shoot! Your post make me think I was taken. This month I paid $2834 for 5 years of prepaid on my new E63 S. The credit manager told me the price would go up in September, so I pulled the trigger quickly trying to get the heck out of there! It looks like comparison shopping was in order.

Since there are separate intervals for each maintenance item (i.e. for my 11 e550 - oil change 1/10k, brake fluid and cabin air filter 2/20k, ATF and engine air filter 4/40k, plugs 6/60k), I asked my SA if prepaid maintenance will combine these or piecemeal them. For example, my next service (oil, brake fluid) will be due when the car is 4yo with estimated 56k miles (I bought it used and don't drive a lot). I know that if was paying a la carte I could just get service B and brake fluid which would be due based on time since last service and defer the spark plugs until 6/60k, whichever comes first. Since I am new to prepaid maintenance, I wanted to know if MB would defer the plugs and consider that the second service interval when I hit 60k miles. I was told by the SA that under MB prepaid maintenance they will perform what is due at that time along with what would be due before the next 1/10k service interval. So in theory, they would cover the spark plugs at 56k for my car since they would be overdue by the next interval at 66k. Does anyone have a different experience with this that they can share?

My car is at 65,900 or so miles now. I don't KNOW if the plus were done at 60k. But I know the trans needs to be done at 80k.

Yes I own a shop, and labor is free, but I don't know if I want to do the trans svc myself. Even though I own an SDS. If I buy the $1089 pack, can I get MB to do a belated 60k svc, the 70k oil change, and the 80k trans svc etc?

Please advise,

George

If it isn't in their system as being done to your car then they should do it even if it is late I don't see the problem, but I would call a SA and confirm

In any case, wouldn't it just be cheaper to change out the spark plugs on your own for the 60k, buy a 2pk and use it for a 70k oil change and 80k tranny since the 90k is just basically a glorified oil change well for the v6 not sure about the 550.

I have to do the math. IF I read the maintenance schedule right (and using the new 40k mile interval trans fluid changes) for an e550:

60k should be oil change, brake fluid replacement, pollen filter, and spark plugs.

70k is just the glorified oil change

80k is oil change, brake fluid, pollen filter, air filter and the aforementioned trans svc.

Take care,

George

Oh I forgot about the brake fluid and pollen filter at 60K. I guess it probably might not be worth the hassle to do it on your own then, even if you own a shop

I'm gonna call MB on Monday and price out the parts @ my cost.

Oil changes usually cost me $65 - buying 10 quarts of Mobil 1 from wal-mart - Their 5qt jug is cheaper than I can get it through any distributor. ( I have 2 qts or so left over, that we usually end up selling / giving to customers). And the filter from MB.

Plugs are around $11-12 each if I remember correctly - so around $100.

Pollen filter and brake fluid I have to price. But I'm prob going to be around $220 in parts alone.

Add in tying up one of my lifts for the brake flush etc, and I may be better of just letting them handle it at these prices.

Plus the car gets a shiny MB of Princeton service bill, and carfax notation.

Take care,

George

Ouch! $1249 for my new '14 Bluetec. The 10k is basically an oil change so that leaves the 20K costing around $1100. Does that sound right? I know they have to add Adblue but that can be done at home cheaply.

Ya the new prices are pretty high, according the website, 5 years will cost you 3239, vs 1999 for a 2014 e350 sedan. I don't know what a Diesel service entails but other forum members would know.
