Looking back at my notes, I only got quotes on the MB ELW for 3 years/75k total miles and for 3 years/100k total miles. There may have been higher mileage options but I don't drive that much so I didn't ask.

there is a 125000 mile plan.
If the OP is not a high mileage driver, I agree with the other posters, the CPO offers nothing extra in my opinion that you can't get yourself with the ELW, in fact the ELW covers more
ELW prices go up after tomorrow,

Game over. No way to CPO the car before I buy it unless a MBZ dealer buys it and CPOs it first. Dealer up north wont buy it. That is WACKY, but I understand. I'm not shipping a non CPO car down to TX for service. When the hairs tingle on the back of your neck during the process, that means don't buy it. Maybe some of you long timers can attest to this. I'm out...!! ps. but Damn that was a nice car.
You are overvaluing CPO, unless you are a high mileage driver.

Import dealer calls me back and says he is looking into getting an MBZ dealer in Atlanta to CPO it so we can make the deal. Then we may be back in business... Will keep you posted.

For this to happen, the dealer in Atlanta would have to purchase the car from the current indie dealer. Dealer in Atlanta would have to then repair, replace tires, brakes and any other suspect items to bring it up to CPO standards then sell it to you. If the dealer up north was not willing to do this, what makes you think the dealer in Atlanta will. This car may be to far gone to be CPO'd.
Why buy a rust belt car when there are so many Texas and southern cars available. Does not make sense to me. JMO.

Yes, I'm waffling back and forth on this 13, sorry gang. Such a gorgeous car and possibly the best opportunity ever. Mercedes dealership up north has done only a "pre-sale inspection" on the car, identifying the only things noted as rusty rotors and tires both in need of being replaced. Everything else tested OK. They did not do a midtronics battery test. While it was in their shop, I talked to the MBZ service advisor. They were not in a position to buy the car (to resell it to me CPO'd), but they all love it. Indie agreed to replace the rotors w/ OEM in advance. Getting the CPO on this car will only give you one extra year of warranty so on top of the 2+ years warranty from the factory you will get one more year of time with up to 100 000 miles.
If you really want / like the car you will buy it without CPO (it does not need it) and purchase the extended MB warranty for it.

OP, please compare the CPO and ELW. ELW is more comprehensive, is an exclusive not an inclusive warranty like the CPO. The only thing superior about the CPO is the unlimited miles. Moreover, like other posters have said a CPO only means 1 year of extended warranty you'll have to pay for the extra 2 years.
Peace of mind can be had with a ELW and Prepaid Maintenance Package, but I still don't understand why you want to go through the trouble of having it CPO'd, when a easier/better/cheaper option is available.

Congrats. If it is now in your name, you should order the ELW before the prices go up as kash suggested. You can always cancel it for a refund before the b2b runs out. That way you can lock in the cost.

Can you? - you should call one of the recommended finance departments and see if knowing the VIN is enough. Erin of MB Santa Rosa would be good for you to save the tax. Dan Boone of MB Austin is another but then you'd pay sales tax.
If you can, then should you? - that depends on how certain you are the car is yours.

Best bet is to call Erin at MB Santa Rosa or Dan BOone if you can get him on the phone at MB Austin.
GOod luck and Congrats

Congrats on the new ride. You will find that the E550 with the twin turbo V8 is an awesome car. The more I drive mine, the more I love it. The engine is just sweet. Only downside is that around town in stop and go city traffic the car drinks (but then so does any other car). On the highway, the car is just a dream. Over labor day, my wife and I drove from the DC area to VA beach. The car got phenomenal fuel economy given its weight and size. According to the optimistic in car display we got 27 mpg on the way there and 28 mpg on the way back. During regular highway driving the E550 is more fuel efficient than my wife's 2008 E350 4matic.

Nothing major really. In a separate post I asked about the odd window behavior but there are several LI's that address it. My car has just one annoying rattle - the gauge cluster surround, but evidently that's common and well known. The headlight lenses have that weird imprint which, again, is covered by an LI. The panoramic roof has a bit of gasket that has come lose. Finally, the much discussed faded wood trim.
All in all the car seems solid. Just finished my first major road trip with it and am pleased. I do wish the steering was a bit heavier, and the trans was a little quicker, but those aren't really bugs.
And oh, it does haul ***. Also not a bug.
