2014 e550 winter tires

Hi guys,

Just got a 2014 e550 4matic sedan and looking to get a winter wheel package. Tire rack does not have fitment for this car yet. I am looking to get the Blizzak ws-80 tires on BBS SR rims. Do i need to to stay at OEM 18 tire size or can i downsize to 17 tires/rims? Any advice on a this combo or other moderate cost wheel package would be appreciated. Thanks.

I stuck with a used set of 18" OEM MB wheels off a w211 (kijiji) and put 245/40/18 michelin X-Ice. Although they were H rated tires, my rationale was I was not going to be driving 200 kph especially in Toronto winters. I looked at 17", the dealer, tire rack and a trust local tire store all recommended staying with the 18s. However, if I am not mistaken, the E300/e350 had a 17" option. Good luck with you decision.

winter set

245/40 x 18" snows on 18" alloys would fit your car.

'17 C63S Estate (S205) / '14 CLS 550 SB (X218) / '17 E220d (S213)
The '12+ E550 has an 360mm front brake disc. The minimum wheel size with enough clearance is 18"!

The '10-'11 E550 had the smaller 342mm front brakes which was cleared by 17" wheels.

So please buy 18" wheels, if you own a '12-'14 E550! I bought brand new OEM-wheels via ebay.de over here in Germany and had 245/40 R18 W rated (270km/h) Continental TS830 P Winter tires fit -for the Autobahn.
