Adjust Rear Camera angle???
Hi
I think the angle of the rear camera is tilted down too much.
Does anyone know how to physically adjust the angle of the rear camera (2013 e350 sedan W212)? Maybe using a shim to tilt the rear camera up a bit? If so, please advise instruction to the process and it would be highly appreciated!
thanks!!

only in the S, there are two; the CLS camera is laughable but occasionally useful, it is a 2012 though

I think (do not know) that the rear view camera on our cars is for parking in the tight spots like in parking garages. This is why it shows the back bumper and is very accurate with this, i.e. you can put your bumper very close to the wall in a garage without hitting the wall.
I don't think the original purpose has been to guide to parking spots on lots or showing in distance who is behind you approaching. If it was then it would be showing "higher view".
I have a back-up camera on my Town and Country van. It is far better to show distance behind the vehicle but could not use it for precise close to the wall parking in a garage.

My backup camera is a piece of crap. No Lines on camera. Not sharp at best. I have complained to MB and was told that I am not the first. At least $1250 to replace

Aftermarket cam
I checked on aftermarket cameras and I was told that the more modern camera with the lines was a completely different system. And again over $1000 to put in andcsetup

I had to work on the camera on my 2010, as it had some problems cutting out occasionally. I ended up disconnecting and reconnecting the connector from the camera to the harness. That fixed the issue. The pins will develop corrosion over time and this process wipes the corrosion off enough to correct.
As for these cameras being special or not interchangeable, I seriously doubt that. I've been doing a lot of work on a motor home rigging up four cameras and trying to work with the originally installed camera and learned a bit in the process.
Every video camera has four wires, 12v + and -, Video and ground. That's it. If it has lines, they are preprogrammed into the camera itself. On newer systems where the lines curve with a turn, then that is done at the head unit since it needs input from the steering rack as to position. With static units like these, no extra input.
The connector for these cameras is small, I don't think its a standard 4 wire that you will find on cameras bought aftermarket, but if you are handy, you can always splice wires. The mounting for the camera is fixed and I imagine was designed to work with a camera of a specific viewing (wide) angle. I find the picture on mine to be satisfactory, really not better or worse than most aftermarket cameras. It does the job of showing you what is behind so you don't run into it. So you want to see the bumper, otherwise you would not have a reference point. HTH.
