Operator Guides and Manuals

I took delivery of a 2015 E350 4Matic a couple of days ago. I got the binder with guides and manuals but do not have a separate Comand (Navigation) manual. I suspect I should have one because when I look up "Comand" in the Operator's Manual index it says to see the separate guide.

I found one in the "Owner's Online" section of the MBUSA site. Strangely, there was no Comand manual under 2015 but when I selected 2014 I was able to download version "B" of the Comand Manual (whose save filename indicated 2015).

I would prefer the hard copy manual if there is one and sent an e-mail to the sales rep... but thought you guys would know.

2014 E350 also restored: 1969 Camaro convertible SS 1957 Chevy Belair 2dr hardtop
Had the same problem with my 2014 E350. Contacted Mercedes Benz USA to find out exactly what manuals I should have received. They gave me all of the part numbers. I then went back to the dealer and stated I wanted all of the manuals and here are the part numbers. They actually had to order them because what they gave me were 2013 manuals and not the 2014 manuals. The 2014 manuals were twice as thick as the 2013. The problem with the dealerships is that they have a drawer full of manuals and they just grab one set and they do not check to see if they are all there or if they are the most current.

Noka, Congrats! What did you ultimately end up with?

Also, look in your phone / tablet's app store for something called MB Guides. It'll download the latest and greatest version of the manuals for the car. At least it exists in Android land, so I'm assuming it'll exist in IOSland as well.

For the E there's Owners Manual, COMAND, and a separate Bluetooth manual. There are also a ton of fun videos about the car too. The S-Class has a great Making Of video in it. If you poke around you can also get it to download the Euro versions of the manuals so you can figure out what's missing on the USA ones.

Found Comand manual online. No manual under 2015, but '15 (B-version) Comand manual is under 2014 selection

Got '15 E350 4Matic, Palladium w/Burl wood, Sport w/AMG wheels, P1, Pano, Keyless Go, Lighting, Lane Assist, Parking Assist w/360 view.

Dealer got from another dealer in NY. Sent truck to get it and didn't charge me (which I thought they might). They threw in all-weather mats and cable for my older Ipod Touch (came with more recent smaller connector).

Didn't get the Autobahnd paint protection film this time around. It's a pain when that gets damaged too.

I'll probably get the reversible cargo mat. Might extend 6-mo basic MBrace subscription, not sure yet. Amazing you need that just to send address to Navi w/Google maps (my BMW could do that with no subscription... oh well).

Very nice and well-optioned. 4MATIC will come in handy up there. I just got word that my car should be "out of production" by Nov 25th. I was hoping it was going to be on a ship by this week, but alas, not yet. Looking at Wallenius & Wilhelmsen's website, it looks like it'll hit the VPC around the 19th or 20th. Going to be cutting it close to get the car by year-end.

I just hope my M45 holds up until then. It just started acting up Friday w/stalling when decelerating and hard-start issues. Dealer replaced the battery free. Picked it up today and now it's doing some strange shifting. Will be dropping it back off tomorrow. It'd really stink to have it die before the E arrives. I was hoping to keep both for awhile.

I am glad you located your manual. I do think that most problems that you encounter with the nav. related functions will be answered by the nav. screen menu that can not be used while driving. :-(

Now I just need to get the hard copy manual from the dealer. I guess they would prefer that I open the binder while driving instead of looking at the screen for info
Did someone say there is a separate Bluetooth manual too? I don't have the one either.

On the Android MB Guides application there is a separate Bluetooth manual. I'm not sure if a paper equivalent exists. It's just a re-hash of what's inside the COMAND book.

Comand guide: The dealer showed me a hard copy Comand guide from an older E-class (dated 2011) but said that none of the new E's that have come in recently have a separate Comand guide. Can anyone confirm whether they received a separate hard copy Comand guide with a 2015 E-class (US-spec)?

Bluetooth guide: The dealer didn't think there was any separate hard copy BT guide either. Interestingly, my Droid RAZR Maxx HD is not listed as compatible with the E-class, although I could pair it and make calls. Unlike my recent BMW, I cannot receive texts on the Comand.

Side note: Slightly disappointed that I cannot send address to Comand from Google maps without an mbrace subscription (like I could without any subscription with the BMW). Oh well, nothing is perfect. However, the car certainly drives well and is very comfortable.

The Comand manual is now in the last section of the Operator's manual. There used to be two separate booklets in the past.

Not in the PDF version (A-2015) I downloaded. I'll check the hard copy again but I don't think it was in there. Maybe it's a difference of model or geography. I might give MBUSA a call but I suspect they'll just point me back to my local dealer.

There is no separate Comand section in my hard copy Operator's Manual (not in last section as petee1997 indicated). MBUSA says they're starting to do away with hard copy manuals and Comand is probably one for 2015. I'm still not sure I believe it yet because the person wasn't certain. Anyway, I downloaded the 2015 PDF version (but it's under 2014 in the drop-down, not 2015... and I mentioned that to the person I spoke to, so maybe they'll correct that).

Have you started to really use the system yet? When ever you get down to brass tacks it wants you to use the on screen info. to sort things out. Try to set up the display for speed limit info. and see how far you get with Mbrace.

petee1997: I also have the 2015 E Class Sedan & Wagon Operators Manual. I cannot find a section titled 'Command'. Are you referring to the section that is described as "On-board Computer and Displays" ?

Maybe your car came with a different manual ? Mine is described on the back cover as Part #212 584 79 01 Edition A-2015.

I apologize. I had only browsed through the manual and saw a section on audio and comand. I did not read the section on audio and comand until today. It starts at around page 200 and is very brief and not detailed enough to help. As far as the E class goes I think the on line comand manual is the same as the 2015. However there is nothing for the facelift 2015 CLS which is different from the previous model and is different than my E.

Again, I apologize for misleading everyone.

Thanks for your clarification ! Meanwhile, I have ordered the missing 'Command" manual and the CD Owner's Manual that were missing from my car. Both should be supplied @ no extra cost with 2015 E Class.

By the way, have you tried the 'record' mode for CDs ? The 2015 version Command will now record CDs; it only takes about 2-3 minutes to record an entire CD to the 10GB memory. I can't detect any difference in sound quality between the original and the memorized copy.

Do you have evidence (from MBUSA or otherwise) that a separate hard-copy Comand manual should have been provided for MY 2015 and do you have the part number that was ordered?
FYI: I did get a CD owner's manual (Sep-2014 build).

My MB Canada Inc. dealer agreed that a separate 'Command' should have been included. I do not not have a part # for it.

IIRC, COMAND for the E-Class has had this since at least 2009/2010. Considering 128GB SD cards can be found for $60, the 10GB Music Register in the COMAND system seems silly these days. Still nice to have, but wish they'd allow you to import DVDs full of MP3s & such. I'm planning on just carrying a 1.5TB USB hard drive in the center console.

FWIW, here's the latest & greatest COMAND manual:
