Lighting the Standing Star

Just curious, has anyone seen one of the "standing star" hood ornaments, as Merc calls it these days, illuminated? Is there enough room in the trim ring to sink a couple of white LEDs pointing up at it? I wouldn't want it for my car, but I think it'd look slick.

the hood mount is pretty flush with the rest of the hood on my 11 e350. A tiny little led spot light might work and give a cool highlight effect, but it sounds like it would be more work than is worth it. I bet if you want it bad enough and aren't afraid to try until you get it right, it could be cool.

The heck with a well-placed LED! Mount a standard spot and light it up like a Christmas tree on the front lawn!

Back in the '50's, Mercury, De Soto and Pontiac had hood ornaments with glass or plastic heads in them. The dealer could install a light kit that would light them from the inside when headlights turned on.
My local dealer has a tech. use green pipe cleaners to make wreaths out of the standing Stars for Christmas on the for sale cars.
