So I'm looking to buy a STAR diagnostic system and am gauging a general idea of how much a setup goes for?

I'm looking into getting a c3 multiplexer, with a IBM T30 and 2014 xentry version.

How much can one expect to pay for such a setup? Any input is greatly appreciated!

There are plenty of sites that sell it, but I have seen there are many versions.


I am interested in one, cause I am thinking of doing a trans fluid n filter change, and in the procedure it says STAR is needed.

Try searching all the forums. In a few others, different systems on aliexpress are mentioned. Prices for those range from $300-$400. There's also members of the forum that sell systems, but they're a bit more, I think in the $800+ range, but you do get support from them which may be vastly different from what you get from a $300-$400 system.

I recently picked one up from a forum member. The support has been great. Be aware though that the newest 12/14 DAS software update does not communicate with the w212 with the c3 multiplexer... It's one of two models of mob vehicles that combo doesn't play nicely. He is creating a new hard drive with a previous 7/14 version of th software that seems to work with the c3 on all models.

I would look at the newer multiplexer as price doesn't seem much more and will continue to receive newer software updates....

I've noticed a 7/2015 version of the software is now avalaiable? Maybe the errors were addressed.

I'll report back once my new drive arrives, hopefully this week.

And more importantly, can you provide a link to the one you are talking about? The most useful you recommend.
No point in buying something that wont get the job done as time moves on.

I am told IBM T30 is old, they don't support any more.. And I Get a setup USD$699, include V2012.11 SDConnect C4, DELL D630 Laptop, 4GB Memory. Get it, I think it is a good combination. It can do offline programming, like it. Here is link, or email to sales@MBstarshop.com, hope it can help you. It is important that Get a usefull tool for our cars.

T30 is quite old stuff. If you get the C3 MUX+laptop +drive drive package, it comes with the new 2015* Xentry. But buy them alone will cost much.

The best way is: HQ C3 Mux + Dell laptop + 2014 DAS/Xentry (if the seller allows you to change to the 2014 xentry), and all software pre-installed.

I assume you can do everything with it, right?
What I am looking for is been able, for instance, to measure the temperature of the transmission fluid so I can do the Fluid trans change procedure.

It is not cheap, at least comparing with Aliexpress, but the shop review makes the price "reasonable".
