How to Install Car Battery For W212 E550
Anyone installed a car battery on their own? Was it easy? I am attempting to do so but thinking if I should bring it back to Mercedes.

I think you have to go to the dealer anyways.
When replacing the battery, you have to "register" it and reset the computer.
As the degrading battery goes, the computer notices such and compensates for it. If you replace the battery, and don't reset the register, the computer will continue to treat the new one as if it is a dying battery.
Unfortunately, you can't reset it yourself.

this is another thread on here where folks have stated they've done it on their own without issue. Let us know what you get and where from.

So I brought my car back to MB and apparently the alternator and battery had to be replace and fortunately it is under warranty. Good thing I didn't buy a battery.

Best to have this done at the dealership. If you disconnect the battery a bunch of system settings will need to be reset. Windows, trunk etc. Not something I would want to take on unless I knew what I was doing

I just had my battery replaced at my friend's shop. No re-programming or computer reset necessary. This was confirmed by a local MB dealer (where we purchased the OEM battery) before we replaced it.

Price and warranty?
I had the one in my E350 replaced a year ago by MB Roadside Assistance. Cost over $300, but no charge for RA. Warranty is only good for TWO years per dealer and MBUSA!

From what I've read, there is also an auxiliary battery in the engine compartment. No SBC on this car, so it must be for backing up low system voltage on the main battery.?
