Is this Mercedes w212 worth repairing?

Hi to all,
I am new here i found an Mercedes Benz E 250 Cdi Avantgarde with 43000 miles on the clock that has a cheap selling price (10000$) but it has a fire damage on interior, is it worth fixing it with second hand parts?

All you're going to get are internet guessing just looking at the pics, nothing known about your abilities, extent of damage besides visual, costs.
IMO you're going to make up any savings with repair costs for interior, wiring, all sorts of things. If it's a salvage title then that can be another issue.
Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish.

1) Why is the airbag blown? Exterior of the car looks fine...
2) What does a similar car/similar mileage sell for in good condition?
3) Is the title clean?
4) Would you be doing the work yourself?

weird damage. You can add up the parts cost very easily. The unknown is definitely the wiring harness and what condition that is in. Doesn't appear that any water was used to put out the fire, but if it was you have that to contend with as well.
And as said, if it is on a salvage title, just move on.

Thank you to all for your opinions,

Here in Europe we have two titles for damaged cars ( damaged and damaged not roadworthy) this one is on damaged title.
I talked to a guy that sells Mercedes second hand parts he said this parts that are visible will cost 2000$ but what my fear is are the wiring a field that would be a headache on a new car that is fully equipped and also will coast a lot of money and time, as for the work I would change the parts by myself it will not be my first car that I has changed dashboard.
Similar car but without damage is around 27000 $ here.

Hate to see it end up in a scrap heap for no real reason. If you can do the work your self and have access to SDS to program everything once replaced it may be worth a go. Good luck!

The cosmetic damage appears to be minimal. $2000 sounds optimistic though as you definitely need a new COMAND H/U, THERMATIC control unit and all the console switches; you're probably half-way through your budget right there!

The scary part is the airbag. If the car wasn't impacted, it would suggest that the bag blew due to a wiring harness melting. If you can't splice into it, replacing the entire harness would surely be expensive and time consuming.

How's the headliner? How bad does the car smell?

If you are the one doing the work, I'd say go for it. I've seen a guy ressurect a BMW 325 that was burned to the ground. But he did the work himself. To pay someone else to do it will be very expensive especially since that dash board is a PITA to remove and there is likely a lot of wiring that needs to be repair as well as some of the electronics that may have been shorted out. So unless you were handy I'd pass.

unfortunately you don't know the extent of the damage until you take the dash and console out. nothing behind that is cheap.

$10000 compared to $27000. say youre gonna spend $10000 to bring the car back up. youre still saving around $7000. if youre handy with the tools, has access to cheap parts and have the time to do it. id say go for it. OR, if you have $27000 in your hand now, just get a descent 212 and enjoy it straight away. its really up to you mate. goodluck!

not sure what is would be worth if not damaged, but even if you fix it you still have the title issue which would effect resale. Not an issue if you plan to keep it long term.
