2011: Help: Panoramic Sunroof / Shade no longer works! :(
Hey guys,
I have a E550 2011, pano sunroof, sedan with less than 40K on the odometer.
I have used the sunroof 3 to 4 times a week with no issue whatsoever thus far.
Today, I opened the sunroof and all was fine.
It got a bit windy so I decided to close it. Close it and heard the usual smooth closing sound and the usual sound when the roof sits in it's place.
Next I decide to close the sunshade, and I notice that the sunshade for the first time ever will not close! So i click on the closing button again and again, and nada. So I try to open the sunroof and it does not open.
So here is where I am at now:
My kids do enjoy having the sunroof open, but I need also the sunshade to close because I drive at noon and the sun hits me pretty bad.
This is a practically new car that has been driven with great care.
Any help would really be appreciated
Thanks!
Edit: I attached an audio file on the soft click I get when I hit the first down position (close) on the trigger

So here is where I am at now:
- The sunroof seems to be closed proprely. On visual inspection it is sitting flush with the roof's car.
- The roof sunshade is opened and I am unable to close it.
- I tried pouring water on top of it to see if it is sealed properly so I do not get water inside if it rains and no water entered the car.
- Closing the sunroof (first position of pulling the trigger down) produces a very soft double click coming from near the trigger. Please see attachment for sound.
- Pulling the trigger two positions down produces nothing at all.
- Pulling the trigger one position back produces nothing at all.

You can try to pull the fuse for 2 minutes and see if the roof and shades will do a reset.

Sounds like that would be the one controlling the circuits in the roof area including the Pano.
I looked at the fuse chart and #17 should be the one. Up front

Update
Just a quick update:
I did a sneaky ECU reset in order to fix my lagging pedal not knowing it would affect this issue at all.
The sneaky ECU reset ended up resetting the pano mechanism and once done, I made it learn to properly open the roof by taking it to fully closed and fully opened positions.
The fuse polling would have probably done the same thing.

yeah, unless the "sneaky ECU reset" involved a battery disconnect. That would have accomplished the same thing as pulling a fuse. If it was just the key turn-step and hold pedal thing, I can't see that working any magic on the Pano.

I would have not guessed that the sneaky ECU reset had anything to do with the pano roof.
Unless there is a mechanism in the pano roof itself that detects fault and resets itself after a few days, and I happen to test it after my "sneaky ECU reset" procedure.

Sometimes just turning the car off and restarting will reset some of the electronics that get hung up. My COMMAND screens have had issues that clear up with a restart and I have had other issues(Bi-Xenons, et al) that clear up with a restart. You probably initiated something that reset the roof.
I have tried that ECU reset and never noticed a change.

No, it was NOT the restart.
I shutdown the car and restart it several times during several days before the problem fixed itself and it was not working.
The ONLY thing I did that was out of the ordinary was the Sneaky ECU reset, to fix my lagging pedal.
