Does anyone know how difficult it is to add the power trunk open / close feature to a W212 that did not come with one from the factory?

I have sourced the the motor apparatus that installs into the trunk floor and the replacement panel for the edge of the trunk lid that includes the lighted red button to close it. Are there any other parts that are needed for this to operate and appear OEM? Will the existing remotes work to open and close it the trunk lid?

It can't be economically added if it didn't come from the factory. Just use what you have, you're not missing anything. If you had ordered it from the factory with keyless go, it could open/close from the drivers side door, open/close with a foot swipe under the rear bumper, close/lock with a button press on the trunk, open/close with the car remote with a modification. Half of these features can't be duplicated if you retrofit your car and it will cost way more than twice what it would have been to have gotten it from the factory.

would be cheaper to hire a midget to live in your trunk and close it for you.

can be done, BUT, too much work and money for a very small gain. not worth it IMO.

Nice feature to have, but not that nice to spend money on adding it. If someone took mine away I would not cry over it like I would if they took away my Pano roof.
