Music Register

My Music Register memory feature has showed full for last several months. Couple of months ago I loaded a CD with no problem and then again two weeks ago with no problem.
Couple of days ago I tried to load a CD, but got notice that memory was full. So I deleted a folder (CD). Memory info still showed full, but I tried to load a new CD anyway. Not only loaded one, but then loaded another as well.
Apparently once it is full, the memory information feature never accounts for deletions. I had deleted some songs from various folders over the past few months and memory info never changed.

Wow you got it to a full state at some point? Isn't it like 6GB, you must have a larger collection then DJ Premier or something lol.

Has 6.0GB of memory. It has 174 Folders and 1,470 Files. A File is one song or track from a CD. A Folder could be one CD or where I combined 2-4 CD's into one Folder. All recorded from CD's, some made on a PC.
Took over 5 years to fill it though.

I'm 3/4 full, but done for now. I was loading 4-5 discs per day to and from work. I like the variety it gives me on random, but then again I also use 6 old-school iPod nanos (I think) for even more.

My home music collection is nearing 1T.

Loading the Muscic Register gave me a good excuse during first year to go for cruises in countryside.

Impressive. I'm a newbie so only probably 8 CD's of material on it so far, but I definitely love the convenience of it. Every time I get something new on CD, I'll be putting it on there to get rid of extra junk in the armrest.

Couple of things I learned that may not be in manual. For voice control, say
Next Folder to get to next "CD" in the MR. After you record a new CD, check via Folders tab at bottom to see what it named it. May want to use options to change the name of Folder (CD) as names are not always accurate.
It is particualarly bad about recording CD's with "various" artists to that category and you end up with multiple CD's under that "title" on list of Folders.
Before you start recording, you can select destination Folder. This helps if you want to record several CD's under one title, name, artist, etc. if you have already recorded a first one. Can also create a 'Name" for new folder before starting (I think).
Ironically, you can change information in the Folders/Files by using the alphabet option - very dangerous if you are moving.
BTW, Files are tracks of the CD.
Before recording, it's nice to be able to select specific tracks to record.
You can also use the options going through Folders tab to delete individual tracks you don't want.
Happy Motoring!

There is so much you can do while in motion that it is easy to get distracted. Pull over and figure out what you are doing or make some of the entries.
Even now, it sometimes scares me when I am scrolling through Folder/File lists or making changes/deletions and realize I haven't been looking out the windshield.
But, it is great having so much music available and I still use the six CD changer for other CD's.
Unfortunately the five/six CD changer has pretty much disappeared from most cars.

I test drove a 2015 Charger a couple of months ago and the dealer told me all CD players for their brand were being replaced. They saw no need for it with everyone using their phones to stream music. It felt odd not having the option to at least pop in a CD.

Wouldn't purchase a car without a CD player

Wouldn't purchase a car without a CD player. Contrary to popular myth (and car salesmen), not everyone streams music or listens to music through phones.
While CD's are diminishing in demand, there is still significant demand for them and many people play them in their cars. Not to mention the hundreds of millions of them that people already have.
Actually I have little use for radios in cars. Never listen to AM and only two FM stations and them rarely. Have had satellite radio twice and never listened to it after initial experiment.

CD/DVD changer is so slow, i like the music register because it's fast. Gracenote is pretty sweet for those foreign tracks w/ foreign fonts. I wish it could rip FASTER!!!

Been using an ipod for all of my music needs now. I don't think I have bought or used a CD in more than 4 years now. The media interface with the ipod on these cars is awesome.
