I would respectfully disagree that it is no big deal. MB advertises the best or nothing. This is certainly not the best. My RAV4 keyless entry works flawless. Toyota don't have the option of putting the key in a slot. If the keyless start fails, the car won't start. I am an electrical engineer and feel they either need to redesign the fob or change the firmware to fix the problem. My 2015 E350 is my first MB and I am not thrilled by the way they are addressing this obvious problem. Maybe if I owned a KIA I could accept it. Maybe most MB owner's aren't concerned about inserting the key every month or so to reset the keyless start. That might be why they are not giving this a high priority. I think more of us should complain and keep taking our cars back to the dealers, until they get it fixed.

True...it should work flawlessly..but it doesn't...and personal I won't swet it. My wifes fully loaded kia Sorrento cost Her 55 grand....she's never ever had a problem with her keyless go..
But your right...it should work.
Cheers

I am not down on KIA, just an example. You are right that it is not a big deal that I have to manually insert the key, or in my case just click the unlock button every month or so. I guess I just expected more from MB. Have a great day!

Am I missing something here?

If ours has Keyless-Go and only a start button (so no where to insert the fob into), how can my wife start the car (and get to work!!) if it ever fails to recognize the fob?

Do I literally "pull off the start button" with my fingers?

Yes, just pull out the start button with your fingers and insert the key.

The problem was finally solved by replacing a defective key fob in combination with other modules they have changed out plus software updates. I couldn't tell all the parts they replaced as they weren't called out on the invoice. The final piece of the puzzle was replacement of the fob which they refused to do the first 3 times I went to the dealer with the problem. The ignition and trunk opening have been working without incident now for 5 months.

So a bad key FOB? I have two keys fobs and either one seems to work. so im thinking it is the antenna module or amplifier. cause the fob works when I unlock and lock my doors from pushing fob keys. But it wont detect my key when im outside the car or in it.

I would just keep taking the car back every time it acts up. That is the only way they finally solved my problem.

I got my windows tinted yesterday. Left just the FOB and the car with the technician. Went back to pickup after he was done. Pushed the button and dashboard says FOB not detected. First time that has happened in the 2 weeks of ownership. Tried pushing the button again, same error. Pulled the FOB out locked and unlocked the doors, then pushed the button and it was recognized. Is this a frequent occurrence?

That is the same message I was getting until they finally replaced one of my key fobs. They claimed that there was nothing wrong with the fobs. I have been using the new one they replaced. They didn't replace both of them. I have just been using the new fob to make sure it works. In another three months or so I will change over to the one they didn't replace to see if that one is also defective. I would randomly get the key not detected message on average once or twice a month. After the last visit to the dealership, with whatever components they replaced or updated and using the new key fob the problem has now been solved. The second fix they tried after replacing the batteries was to give me a leather cover for the fob. I think they know there is static electricity that affects at least some of the fobs. I have a RAV4 with keyless entry with absolutely no problems. There is no way to plug in a key if the keyless function would fail. It just wouldn't start. MB knows there is a problem, perhaps with the design of the fob itself.
