E350 Purchase

I've owned a E420 until two years ago when I traded it in. Missed my MB so I have been shopping. I found two E350. First one is a 2009 with 66k miles no CPO offered. The other one is 2010 with 51k miles, Sports pkg and is a CPO. Would appreciate thoughts and feedback on the E350 Class. Which year to consider and purchase.

Is the 09 a W211? The CPO on the 10 probably runs out fairly soon. The 09 W211 was the last year for the W211 in the USA, and had the best command/nav system. For me it would all come down to what options the cars have.

IMO the W211 is more luxury and the W212 more sporty. I think the W211 was nicer in it's base form than the W212; however, W212 have more advanced options available, and there isn't a W211 than can compete with my fully loaded W212. I still love the look of the W211.

The interior and exterior were substantially changed from 2009 (W211) to 2010 (W212). I was looking at a 2009 and then saw the 2010's and ordered one from Germany.
In 2009 screen for navigation was located at bottom of center stack or maybe middle-sort of added on. In 2010, it was located at top and larger and designed into the dash. Much easier to use location.
Just to muddle things, the 2010 came in Sport or Luxury version with very different ride comfort levels. Don't know about the 2009, but probably the same.

I went and bought the 2010 (W212) last night at my local MB dealer, MB of Virginia Beach. The W212 had 15k less miles than the 09 W211 but costed me $5k more. The options and car capability of the W212 put me over the top in purchasing it. Thanks for all the comments provided.

Sounds like the right decision for you. Congratulations. Try everything out and make sure it all works while under CPO. Also, read second and third Sticky threads on this site for things to look for.

2012 year would be a good choice because it has a slight HP increase from the previous year. A CPO is around $29k in the SF area (w/ Sport package; less than 25k in mileage).

looking to buy my first Mercedes-Benz - 2012 E350 Sedan
Vic_VA -- how did you make out on this... any regrets? happy with your choice? I am looking at a 2010 w/o cop and a 2012 with cpo, leaning more towards the 2012.

It'll be my first luxury car to celebrate a new job and I'm trying to make sure I get the most out of it.

With or without CPO, depends on how long you want to keep the car. I personally prefer BMW's performance, but E-class reliability and style won me over. My car has a Sport package (Sport steering wheel and 18" alloy (AMG style) wheels), so this makes up somewhat when comparing it to a BMW.

Each used car has its own unique history (even for CPO). Mine has always been a local car (SF California - so likely it hasn't been drove in snow much), relatively low mileage. The CPO warranty basically provided me with a peace of mind.

Congrats on your purchase. I have a '10 E350 bought new and still love the car today. I hope your experience is the same. I would seriously look at an extended warranty before the CPO expires. I bought 3 years because I want to keep the car that long.

Post some pix. To me the front end on the sport version of these cars in this year is the best out there.
