Fading Wood Tirm
After some search through the threads I found quite a few people have had their wood trim in the 2010-11 E Classes fade quite badly... Some people having success with MB replacing if still under warranty or CPO warranty.
My predicament is I have a 2010 E550 with the fading but I bought her from a private dealer with extended 3rd party warranty "not CPO".
Has anyone heard of people in my situation get it replaced by Mercedes sucessfully?
I've contacted my local MB Dealer expecting them just to say no lol. But instead I have a appointment with their Feild Serivce Manager as explained he can only approve these repairs not covered under warranties out of good faith.

Replacement under factory warranty should be a given. CPO is hit or miss as technically it is not covered under CPO terms. But one could negotiate that as part of CPO sale or get lucky if dealer is willing to help them out since car was purchased there.
This was my first MB and I didn't purchase from a MB dealer so MBUSA there would be no goodwill for me. The local dealer did offer 15% discount as a gesture but I passed - still to much for me.
I would see it through anyway and see what they offer. Maybe you will luckier than me.

Yeah, they are well aware of the issue and from most accounts very accommodating while under warranty. Getting them to cover it out of warranty is another story. But that's not unlike other issues brought up out of warranty.

Had mine replaced under combination of MBUSA ELW (technically not covered), dealer goodwill and fact that it was a documented defect with an TSB. Having a good relationship with the dealership was probably a great help in getting it done.
At first SA said no as it is a "trim" issue and not covered under ELW. I countered that was true, but it also was a defect with a TSB. He spoke to service manager and it was approved.

I saw the problem after buying my 2010 E 350 from Mercedes Benz US's only owned dealership, Mercedes Benz Manhattan. It was a CPO. There were quite a number of pieces that faded. They only replaced the worse one, and left the rest. Same thing with the worn out door seals - they cut out the bad sections and replaced them by splicing in new sections. They did not replace the entire door seal all around. The only thing they did fully was to replace the dry-rotted tires with new ones.

If you don't have any success, please contact me as I would like to sell the complete package of light burlwood trim from my 2012 which has no fading. I want to change to carbon fiber.

IIRC it is about $1600-1700 for the wood kit new online. Most of the pieces I have seen for resale have issues whether it is fading or tabs are cracked during removal.

Please post a link if the OEM kit can be purchased online. I might just buy the Black Ash wood kit, which I would prefer to the Burlwood. It would be cheaper than going custom carbon fiber if this is true. I haven't spend the time to add up each piece by MB part number, but I would expect each piece to be hundreds, and there are quite a few.

Part number for burl wood kit is 2126801293. Here is one place selling it online. Prices were lower when I looked two years ago.
Not sure what part number is for black ash. They may not have a kit for that since it didn't have a fading issue. You may want to see if someone with black ash wants to trade with you.

I looked up all 17 pieces of wood trim from an online OEM parts seller. Their discount from list price is about 25.5%, and their selling price added up to $2119.75. I think the light trim is called Walnut. unfortunately, there are 6 pieces listed as unavailable in Black Ash that I was looking for.
I will go a little cheaper if you're really interested.

I'm not interested myself. I was just curious. Yeah I would pick up a cheap set to play with but I am not serious enough about this to sink any dough into it.
If you are interested in carbon fiber, you may want to wrap your existing trim yourself. That might be cheaper than buying another set and selling your used one.

I had wrap on my old W208, it's a little better than staring at that ugly wood, but not really a true carbon fiber glossy look. I'll eventually spring the cash to get the good stuff on this one. I'm keeping it a long time.

Probably need a dealer to confirm the part number. I got that number from older faded wood threads where someone posted the dealer invoice on the parts used in the replacement. The model year on the website is probably wrong but hopefully anyone ordering is smart enough to confirm the part number before they drop $2k.

My local dealer just replaced all my wood trim pieces last week. I am in the last month of factory warranty and then move into CPO coverage. The wood trim was badly faded when I purchased the wagon this past Christmas from a MB dealer south of Miami, but because of the holiday and being on vacation I opted to have it done closer to home. I did make a point of bringing it in while it was still under the factory warranty. When I brought it in for service I was told it would be about 6 months because of the backlog, but ended up only being around 4 weeks. They did a really nice job installing, and so far no squeaks or rattles from the process!

Feild Serive Manager Appoitment
So I finally had my appointment with te Feild Service Manager at my local MB. So due to the fact that the TSB was only a USA bulletin, and I was out of factory warranty they have only agreed to cover half the cost of the parts...... Meaning I would have to cover the other half plus labour at a price of $2000 :/
Wasn't a no, but not sure If I'll be taking them up in their offer anytime soon.
