Transmission System Diagnostic Cost

I was just quoted $225 just to run a full diagnostic of the transmission system at MB. Also I was told that the transmission fluid cannot be checked via dipstick but only by a computer system. The stated cost is pretty much the labor which is roughly an hour and a half, the SA said.

Is this standard and has anyone else had experience with this specific item? I believe the service B includes this. Since I get all of my work done at an Indy, I'm not well informed on the prices at the dealer for such things.

I just had service B done and I do not see anything regarding my transmission on the sheet.

Why do you think you need a full transmission diagnostic check? Are you having issues?

Not having any issues but I thought I read somewhere that it should be looked at for the miles on my car. Also when I was getting a full diagnostic of car done this weekend STS mentioned that my transmission fluid looked a little low. Weird things is, that MB says its impossible for them to have seen it being low cuz it has no dipstick. MB thinks they checked the oil by mistake but I do believe they (STS) have the computer equipment to check it but they just didn't have the actual fluid there to fill it up.

Long story short MB called me and said it'll be $225 and that the fluid was indeed a little low and also my oil was a little low. They filled those up free of charge . Also they said they checked everything else and that it looked good with no issues. That's pretty much same thing STS said when they checked everything else.

I guess I paid 225 bucks technically for trans fluid and extra oil lol. The car is ready now so I'm gonna take loaner back and pick up my batmobile soon as I get off.

I have a service sheet for 2010 USA Model 212. It says have automatic transmission oil and filter check in intervals of 40,000. I've never checked since I had it and have no records that it was checked so I guess it's good that I did now just in case.

That is not an inspection or check at that 40K interval. That is a service. Fluid change and filter. This needs to be done if it hasn't at 40K. It is vital to these transmissions. You could have avoided the diagnostic fee and just had the trans service completed for another couple hundred bucks.

Ok, I wasn't 100 percent sure but I use all sources as a guide. Since I had no record of previous service on the transmission it stuck out to me.

Idk why it was low. I had several things done at my Indy over the weekend, and I made sure my trans was looked at just to be safe.

On the printout from MB it simply says transmission fluid looks a little dark 1/2 to 3/4 low and they topped it off. I'm at 107k so I'm not sure if that's common or not.

Well, I would assume that the transmission service has been completed 2 times on your car in the past and you are approaching the third service at 120,000 miles.

I'll make sure to keep an eye on it. To be thorough, I'll research some more and ask the SA if any of these things are of concern. Thx for the insight.
