Updated steering column unit
Hello all, I have a 2011 e350 and I would like to update the controls for the shifter, turn signal/wiper stalk, cruise and power steering adjustment to the 2014 model, I've tried comparing them on eBay with pictures and the sizes, plugs and they all seem to match its just the actual lay out of the controls are in different spots. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this to make sure they still all work the same. I could be a Guinea pig and try it then return if it's a no go but I really like the new layout and looks of them. Especially for the blinker stalk because my legs are so long I sometimes actually hit the stalk and cancel a left hand turn lol So if anyone has any insight please Let me know. Thanks!!! Added pics of current set up and the new set up Im trying to accomplish

I'm interested, too. Somehow I envision a "it's not that easy" response.
The longer I go with the goofy pre-FL Merc steering wheel column controls (three err seven on the tree, cruise control in place of the the turn signal and vice versa - all much discussed already) the more likely I'll regrettably be converted. Argh.

I ordered the one pictured and I should see it by the end of this week so once I get the old one off I'll test the new one and report back! It looks like the exact same part as far as fitment, connectors and shape but who knows if the connectors are pinned the same that's the part I'll find out about. I don't think Mercedes would change the connections or anything for an updated part seeing as the other parts of the cars interior are swappable with parts from a 2014+ like the analog clock and new chrome heated seat switches, command wheel and other bits....... So stay tuned

Got my column controls and installed in about a half hour or so. Works just like the old controls everything works great except now I lost the steering wheel controls but I think that is because this column set only works with a facelift steering wheel. So what I'm going to have to do is get a facelift steering wheel which I was planning on doing anyways but I can live with out the steering wheel controls for right now until I get one. So there is a downside to this upgrade but it will be fixed very soon.

So I got the new steering wheel, didn't work with the new controls, however when I put the old controls back on with the new wheel everything worked like the old wheel did so maybe my steering wheel just wasn't new enough. If I went with a 14+ e class wheel it probably would have been fine. The wheel I received was from a 13 e350 sport but I decided to keep the new wheel with the old controls and I'm happy with that because the wheel upgrade was much more nicer and the new controls do feel much cheaper than the old unit.
