aooga horn installed

Had nothing to do so I installed an aooga horn on the E350. I have had one on every car I owned since 1964. It is kind of a tradition. The horns in the 60's sounded great. The crap on today's market sound like garbage. Had to order a $200 horn that was remanufactured for today's cars. Sounds just like the old 60's horn. I guess because it is a 60's horn that has been made like new. Had I know how much these things have gone up in price I would have kept the old ones. I used a separate line fuse and a relay. I did not tap off any fuses like I usually do.

60's? Aooga is from the 20's! LOL
So, is it an alternate to the steering wheel horn? You have to push a seperate button to engage it? I cannot imagine how funny that must be to hear coming from a Mercedes.

The company that made the ooga horns went out of business in 1974 from what I was told. The old horns in the 60's had different voltage and output than what the newer cars have today. So I do not even know if the original horns would even work. I have an illuminated button under the dash that I can access very easily. You push it and you get the aooga. The original horns are still in tact. Yes heads do turn when I use it. My wife went to an all girls catholic high school. I went to public. I would go to the school and aooga so she knew I was there when she got out of school. Drove the nuns crazy. They had the police outside the school to try and find out who was doing the aooga. Never got caught.

I have also been thinking about installing a wolf whistle. Had one in one of my older cars. Those are really neat but you have to know how to pull the line.

You seem to do just fine. Now what the hell is a wolf whistle? This is going to be an epic horn/whistle thread.

A wolf whistle usually gets hooked up to the manifold either directly or off something. It works off the air. Kind of looks like a train horn. The line goes inside the car and you pull on the line and you get a whistle from it. you pull harder or lighter to make it whistle the way you want it. Used to use it on the girls at the beach. IT really turns heads.

Hey dbldpr, a question for you. I was reading another thread about how some folks would prefer a chirp to horn honk when locking or unlocking the car. Apparently, MB changed the W212 to a quick horn honk in 2011 when locking (3 times) and unlocking (1 time) but before that it was a chirp. Not sure if you have that feature enabled or not, but I was wondering if you did if the aooga horns sounds whenever you lock/unlock?

I am sure it can be done. Just have to find the line that goes to the horn for the locking and unlocking. If I replaced the regular horn with the Ahooga horn you would hear the ahooga when you lock and unlock. I just wanted it for when I see something I want to ahooga on.
