PPI vs CPO Inspections
Looking to have a PPI done on an 2010 E3504matic I am buying.
Two dealers say they will do a visual inspection (no code pulling) for $150 One said if there are no CELS there is no value.
The third dealer said they would do a full CPO inspection for $250. Is any aware of the real benefit of the CPO versus visual only PPI?

I'd want them to hook it up to their star diagnostic machine. Otherwise you can just get a simple ELM327 code reader for around $20 and just check to see if there were any pending codes and if the system was ready for emissions testing. That way you know if they just cleared out any code. The local dealer did the PPI and pulled codes for around $200, I also got the VMI from the dealer too.

The visual inspection for $150 is a rip off. You can probably find an indy that will do the same for free or less than $100.
When I purchased mine, I took it to MB first and paid $148 for a PPI that included hooking up to diagnostic machine like cetialpha5 mentioned. They spent about 2 hours going over the car and gave me a written report on the xentry system. Here is a link to the thread when I posted the report that talks a little about the inspection - https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...og-dealer.html
I also took it to an indy for a visual inspection. I called asking about their pricing on services, etc. and asked about an inspection. They told me to come by and they would spend about 30 minutes looking it over. They went through it in and out and even put the car on the lift and walked me around under it looking at various components. I was there for about an hour and they didn't charge me, presumably because they wanted me to come back for service. Felt it was very thorough but the MB dealer inspection was much more detailed. Perhaps it was equivalent to a CPO but they didn't use that terminology - they called it a PPI.

2014 E550-sold 😩
^That is a true PPI, when people speak of such. Anything less than that is not worth the time or money. When someone uses the word visual, you know you are in trouble. It's not a dating service; you are actually looking for a long term relationship.
