So yesterday afternoon it poured down rain. Afterwards I went to check and the foot well was bone dry. Then last night it stormed again, and this morning the foot well was damp. I didn't see any water marks underneath the dash (right above footwell). However I saw some on the steering wheel which leads me to the windshield leaking. But then again the roof liner felt dry... I guess it's time to bring it to the shop. I have no clue what's going on.

I think bringing it into a shop is a good idea. They have techniques to find these leaks pretty quickly. It sounds like the windshield or perhaps still the sunroof drains. Let them diagnose it and put you at ease.

Not sure what your warranty (my2011?) or extended warranty situation is but seals and leaks are typical exclusions from extended. If the windshield is the problem, it will be interesting to see how they can repair it. Perhaps they would remove all the pieces that cover the edges of the windshield and then add more sealant under the edge of the glass. Of course if it is getting in under the dash that way you have to worry about what else is coming in contact with water...

If it is the windshield, Fisch, I would only be happy with a complete removal and reset of the glass.

I would agree if you know for certain that is the source of the leak. Problem is they may not know for sure it is the windshield. As a precaution, they may add sealant in hopes that the leaking stops.
And if they remove the windshield, doesn't that mean you'll need a new one and that's $$$? From what I've seen of windshield removal, the old ones don't survive the prying up to separate from the sealant.

a good shop can get it out. Caulking around the edge is just bogus.

Just curious, with so much water, how are you drying it? Any smell, mold, mildew developing and electronics are ok? I would figure so much water could affect the interior.
