Water in foot well
Hi everybody! I've been getting water I. My driver side foot well. This morning it was worse than ever with water literally standing in it. I verified that the driver side sunroof drain is clear as well as the drain holes where the wipers are. What am I missing?

Could it be overflow from the drain pan under the evaporator. There are drain hoses that go down driver and passenger side. One side could be clogged and backing up water than spills over and wets carpet. There is a good thread on here about checking those.

Make sure you are running something through those tubes to see if they are indeed spilling out onto the ground, not just looking at the drain tubes and observing they are clear of debris.

I opened the sunroof and poured water in the sunroof trough and saw water dripping out at the outlet on the bottom of the fender.

Thank you for the tip but so far it has only happened after it rained.

Forgot to ask if it rained. So at least you know it's coming from outside. Have you located any spot underneath the dash where the water is coming from? Which part of the footwell is the wettest?

I tried to locate where the water comes in at but nothing stuck out as the entry point. There was so much water, it was hard to tell which side of the fort well it came in at.

The windshield is original? So, we can rule that out?

Ha! Okay, you got me. My question should have been, have you had the windshield replaced recently? Sometimes they are poorly sealed and leak.

I didn't want to come across as a douche either, was just curious. I haven't had the windshield replaced since I own the car, which is 2 years now.

No no, all good. Only so many places water can get in. Kind of down to the door seal. Can you go at the hood and door with a hose and see if water is getting by the seals somehow? With the amount of water you are talking about it must come in pretty quickly.

I'll look for something obvious on the doors. With that much water coming in it should be easy to spot.

Yes, that was going to be my suggestion. Have someone sit in the car and hold a hose over all the suspect areas and see where it is coming in from. If it is in your driver side foot well, i would assume the water is coming in through the driver side door seals.

If it was coming in from the door seal, you should be able to see water on the interior side of the seal.
Also, I hope you are taking steps to remove the water and make sure the carpet and other parts are thoroughly dry. You don't want a mold problem. Can you find covered parking in the meantime also?

I make sure to dry everything if it's wet to avoid a mold problem. Unfortunately I don't have covered parking at work or at home...

May not be the problem but long time back I had a Dodge where part of the AC unit set under the dash on the passenger side. It had a rubber gasket that had been damaged because the unit had to be repaired three times and dealer did not replace the gasket.
The "box" held water because the drain tube was about 1/2" above the bottom! Really stupid design. Naturally the water ran onto the passenger floor.

Well, I'm out of ideas. Maybe you have a crazy neighbor with a watering can who likes to play tricks on you or is jealous of your ride. Lol

Any chance your vehicle was in any type of accident that you're aware of? Whether by your hands or previous owner?
I've read of accident causing the body to have bad seaming going forward and that can let water in, in more places then normally expected.

I'm not aware of any accidents. I've had the car for 2 years and the water issue just started recently. Good point though. It's just crazy that it's not consistent

I'm still going back to the windshield seals as the culprit. Water can come through gaps that may have formed in the silicone seal and leak down behind the trim and directly into the foot well area without you being able to clearly see it coming in. When you are driving in heavy rain it will come in quickly and then pond up in the foot well after you park and leave the car.
