Question Electrical Module Passenger side Bumper?

I was cleaning my 2010 E550 4Matic today and noticed that on the rear passenger side of the bumper there was a piece of plastic hanging out from underneath the car right next to the exhaust pipe.

It looked to have been welded on to the passenger side of the bumper (see yellow highlight in photo for location) and the weld failed. It was hanging by a harness that had 6-8 wires going into it.

I was able to get some 3M double sided tape and re-attach it however I'm wondering what this module is responsible for? I cant seem to find anything online showing anything near the spot.

Spot in bumper where module is located.

Mine after cleaning the area and re-attaching it.

No, the first one is just one I found online that was at the right angle. Second one is the actual module after fixing it.

konigstiger always comes through.

OP, did you have any slight impact to the bumper in that region that could have knocked it loose? Any sign of damage to the outside? Did you have any issues with the rear sensors while this was dangling? Considering how the original install didn't hold, you may want to get out the ole duct tape.

2014 E550-sold 😩
Definitely Konigstiger to the rescue again.

It looks like part 510 is some type of clip that is now missing from your re-installation. I'm not sure if that 3M foam tape will hold for very long. You may want to try the 3M DUAL LOCK tape, which is a hook and loop (velcro). That stuff is really strong and may be more weather resistant back there.

i was hoping youd say that.

anyways, the double sided tape wont hold it, you might wanna find a better fix quick or you might have false readings from your blind spot assyst.

I've used this tape before in automotive applications both external and internal in the past. Its 3M VHB Tape

I'll definitely keep checking on it however I'm pretty confident it should stick. The bumper itself wasn't damaged in any way, it actually looks like the mount broke in a small piece and the rest was never fully connected, Almost as if it never fully sealed from the start. I should have taken some photos before re-attaching it.

Nowhere ...Fast
Does anyone know where i can buy/find the bracket ( not the part 510 but the bracket that it goes into)?
looks like the previous owner of my benzo lost it along the way?
Cant find it anywhere and MB dealership claims that one would need to order the entire bumper!
Thank you!
