Sprint Booster reliability

For those of you who have installed a sprint booster, how has the reliability been? I've read they have been know to cause some errors.

Was curious of those running the booster long term if it caused any issues?

i had one in my c300 for about two years. My car started to go into limp mode occasionally. I was going to goto dealer until it occurred to me it might be the SB. I removed it and noticed the pins were very loose. After removal it never happened again.

I ran one for 3 months pre-tune in my '12 E550 and really liked it. The OE tune really changed the throttle response, and while not at the level of the Sprint Booster's red mode, I didn't really need it any longer. I'd highly recommend it for anyone not getting a tune where your response is remapped - the default E550 biturbo throttle behavior leaves much to be desired.

While my car never had issues with the SB, upon removing it I noticed the plastic connector was cracked. It worked fine, but I reported it to SB-USA and it was replaced under warranty after inspection. If anyone's interested in a new in box warranty replaced unit, let me know.

If they're installed correctly they should be just as reliable as the throttle pedal (assuming you pressed down the throttle pedal REALLY QUICKLY every time you touched it).

Adam,
I plan on getting a tune a well. Are you saying with the tune it's not really necessary?

Does the tune really improve the throttle that much? Also, speaking about tunes, are there any tunes out there that match downshift revs?

Thanks

The OE tune for our cars improves throttle response, and I found in S mode I was using the Sprint Booster less. It's entertaining to run with the SB in red mode after the tune but not something I'd use in my everday driving.

I can't speak to tune behavior and throttle remapping other than OE, but improving response certainly seems like a must have when getting any tune.

The downshifting behavior you suggest is interesting. I haven't heard of this before but would like to hear more.

You can talk to your tuner about more aggressive throttle mapping, which is all the SB is doing.

I had mine strand me on the Merritt Parkway. Had the car towed and then wondered if the SB could be what was causing the problem. Turns out it was. The company replaced it with without many questions, which I promptly sold on eBay. No way I'd install one again. The company said I had the wrong model for my car, but shipped me the same model as the replacement, which had a modified design. As you can see, the pins on the bottom of the board broke free. Besides, it didn't really do anything.
