as i was watching some videos on youtube
ive noticed where they put one of the cameras on the G30 (in between the kindey grills) , i immediatly disliked it with passion...looks soo ugly. maybe with blacked out grille it would looks nicer but the way it is right now is just plain ugliness
oh that //M emblem is jsut out of place , these little details drive me crazy

The biggest advantage of the Bimmer is the 6 cylinder engine. I believe the E213 is sorely lacking in that aspect at present. I would be really hard pressed to buy a W213 as it is now over the BMW. If they offer other engines it will be different of course.

MB all day, the new 7 series design which has trickled down to the 5 series looks like one of those expensive KIAs from certain angles. I really dislike the new chrome pieces on the front fenders.

As far as engine choice, I consider the E300 the equivalent of the 530i, the up-coming E400 would be the equivalent of the 540i and the M5 would the equivalent of the AMG version of the E class. That leave out the 550i which Mercedes has no equivalent of.

I don't think they're doing an E400, it's supposed to be the E43 and then the E63 which will be coming out later.

So where are the 528 and 535i ? Are they being phased out?
Is the 530i a four pot too?

I guess its a German thing, they change the engine and add to the model number. 530i is the new 528i, still a four banger. 535i is now 540i with 340 HP I believe, the 550i remains the same but there are rumors out that this will be the last go around for a 8 cylinder 5 series.

I have always been a fan of both BMW and MB, but in my younger days I preferred the BMW, due to the better performance. I loved the BMW E12, the E28, and the E34 5 Series, but I also loved the Mercedes Benz W123 and W124.
I love my current 2012 W212 simply because I prefer the more "classic" looks of the Luxury over the Sport, or the updated W212 and the W213. Both the W213 and 5 Series have such a wide center console, which is uncomfortable for me. And then the letters and numbers on the newer models are too small to read without taking your eyes off the road. The BMW E28's ergonomics was still the best for me of any car. Everything exactly where you expect it, and you can read it! It is no wonder that I find myself driving my old W126 more and more - simple and uncomplicated. When I get the urge for a little more spirited driving, I still have my BMW K1200 GT.
In the end it is all down to each and everyone's personal choice and I am not trying to convince anybody of anything. It would have been VERY boring if we all liked the same cars!! For a lot less, I would buy one of each made before 1992.

Back in the days, BMW was always the sportier of the two and Mercedes were the more comfortable car that is build like a tank. Nowadays, the lines are being blur. The new everyday BMWs are no longer the sport handling machines they once ware. With the exception of the M cars, the new BMW ride soft and the steering is numb. Meanwhile, Mercedes has been making some pretty sporty cars that can rival the best BMW has to offer. Personally, I like sporty Mercedes models because they are better build than their BMW counterpart, but I have to say, BMW is a close second with Audi third.

I vote BMW. Had a loaner E class last week and thought it was ok. Felt too big compared to the old E class, which I think I like better. Like the new BMW and BMW's HUD and iDrive are much better than Mercedes implementation.

The new 530i is quite different from the old one, the new 530i handles and drives more like a Toyota Camry than a BMW of yester-year. The engine sound is pipe in thru the speakers and the 4 cylinder engine sounds like a diesel.
