Rust Proofing

Given that I'm from Canada (Winnipeg MB) we do put salt/sand on the roads when winter comes around and the temp drops. With a 2012 E550, do these cars come initially undercoated when manufactured? If so does it last long enough not have to reapply another undercoating or is that not reccomended? There are rust proof service centers in the city (Rust Check) and im just looking around to see whats the best thing to do. Some offer a application that should be done once a year and some offer that and undercoating as well. I would like to keep this car in the long run and not have to worry about unsightly rust. Any help or experience on this would go a long way. Thanks.

I'm on the East coast and also get lots of salt too. I just take the car through a car wash a few times after it stops snowing and get an undercarriage wash. They use some rust inhibitor as part of the wash. There's also lots of body panels like the hood, trunk and fenders that are aluminium too.

2014 E550-sold 😩
Yes, aluminum is your friend. We use more salt here in Chi than anywhere and I have never seen any Benz manufactured in the past 15 years with visible rust.

I use salt neutralizer on the car in the winter and give it a good rinse whenever possible.
