NFC Digital Car Key unlock & Lock

How do you use your phone to unlock and lock the car, Ive looked everywhere and tried putting my phone against the drivers door and it doesn't work. But the NFC does connect and charge in the center console.

Probably for the EU markets only. Same with the parking app.

The only way I can lock and unlock my car without the key is through the Mercedes Me app.

Apparently, parking by smart phone will be an available option in the new BMW 5 series.

I was informed by my BMW SA that remote parking is not available in the '17 540i xDrive that I recently drove. It may be available in the '18 model (SOP July 2017).

Among the available options shown on the build page for the 540i xDrive, these ones stand out:
  • Soft-close automatic doors
  • Integral active steering
  • Space saver spare
  • Remote control parking
  • Night vision

NFC unlocking should work since NFC charging does. According to the manual the first step is to pair the phone. Your phones NFC must be active. Place your phone in the charging area, then press the nfc logo on the bin area, that should be it. The phone should then work as a key to open the door and to start the car. To start the car the phone has to be in the charging area. In theory...

I'll ask him to check it. I won't see him until he delivers my '18 E300 this summer.

Update - I'll ask him today when I meet him for lunch.

Update - He tried it and it did NOT work.

Though the us website shows the NFC locking graphic, the text only talks about automatic phone recognition, the locking or NFC key feature are not mentioned anywhere.

If this does work for anyone in the US, does it work with iPhones?

Any Android actually, iPhone not (they don't allow third party use their NFC security, or something like that).

My NFC connected Samsung Note5 will NOT unlock the car. The wireless charging feature doesn't work with the Note5 either.

What do you mean with "NFC-connected"? It is not sufficient to pair the phone with the audio system using NFC.

Do you guys have the NFC receiver at the door handle? VIN of the car would be nice for verification.

It's been a while and I don't have the manual on hand, so my memory is not 100%. Bluetooth (for phone/audio) and NFC are separate connections. The NFC sensor is located at the center console's lid and supposedly at the door handle as shown in this video - http://paultan.org/2016/03/19/video-...chnology-demo/. I paired my phone on both connection and NFC recognizes my phone when I place it in the center console's bin.

How do you even try the NFC unlocking? Don't you need the MB app on your phone?

Remote lock/unlock via the MBme app works just fine. I think the discussion is about tapping the phone against the door handle to unlock. You can also start the car with the phone near the inside NFC sensor, supposedly.

What im saying is that we dont even get that app with the NFC unlocking functionality here in the US. In addition, the COMAND keeps referring to something called COMAND Touch which is another APP we dont get

NFC Door Unlock function is only available in Euro and requires a custom NFC sim card from the service provider. As seen in one of MB's euro videos
