I know Ohio is a bit of a drive for you guys from Chicagoland, but if you join MBCA then in May you could get one day of defensive driving and autocross followed by two days on the track at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Gemutlichkeit is one of our National Events, and these events are really fun. You can register for just the parts you want to attend. The meals are expensive, but you get to solidify friendships there.

Of those that are interested, does anyone have some track experience?
I'm figuring if we get enough people and rent the track, the cost will be much more manageable. I have no track experience, so, this is all new to me. If anyone has some words of wisdom on this topic, feel free to chime in.

Plug for MBCA and track events
I just use the Mercedes-Benz Club of America for that. They have national events, as the one I posted above, and I do enjoy them. They have people with experience in organizing these things. The have instructors, loaner helmets, and even insurance! If everyone on MBWorld.org would join MBCA, there would be many more track days around the country!

Well, that is partly true, but there's also people like me who enjoy autocross and track days. There's a guy in my section who used to do SCCA Rally with a modified 280E (W114) coupe! If you all join then us motor heads would be the majority!  OK, I'll get off my soap box now.

Sorta kinda late on this but there is AMG performance tour -Chicago in May.
Few IL AMG owners will be attending Sunday morning session. http://amgptchicago.eventbrite.com/ Hope to see some of you at the event.. Also, I'm down for a meet/ track/ cruise or wut not.. Just need to know the exact date in advance

I have not gotten much of a chance to look into this more, but I came across this site.
http://www.drivefastbesafe.com/race_track_rental.htm I was going to see if we got a group of people together and split the cost to rent the track for a bit this summer. I will try to call sometime this week and let everyone know what I find out.
