Brake light problem

The right brake light bulb on my 2002 G 500 burnt out. I replaced the bulb and now the bulb will not light when stepping on the brake pedal. It is not the bulb because I also tried the replacing the bulb with the one from the other side. I checked the fuse but the brake lights do not have a fuse. Any ideas?

Found the problem. There is a trailer light module in the rear. The connection going to the brake light was corroded. Cleaned it up and the light works again.
