My car was recently in an accident. The accident will be reported to Car Fax. I own rather than lease the car. I am concerned that when I sell the car it will be a lot more difficult to sell because of the Car Fax accident issue. The insurance company is willing to work out a dollar "diminished value" settlement. However they want some kind of dollar amount basis to go by. Any information someone can provide would be most appreciated.

It sounds like the insurance company is just putting you off. Along with the cost of the repair, they have databases with all the information they need to calculate a diminished value. Been there and done that.

It's too long ago to remember. I did not have to give them any information, other than the cost of the repair which they already knew.
