G500 G550 non sport version Exhaust muffler modification ( Before You order one)

Hey guys

I know I know . Stupid mistake but I ordered a 2015 g500 but unfortunately the Non Sport Version .

( the dealer said that he sport version will have a slightly louder exhaust sound but I didn’t have a clue that the exhausts pipes design will differ)

The sports version (similar to the G63/G55) exhaust pipes run from the front manifold to the middle mufflers and exits near the rear wheels.

However the non-sport version (Mine ) starts from the front, has middle mufflers both sides In the middle, runs all the way back to under the rear cargo (another rear muffler ) and comes back to under the rear wheels.

Reasons why I ordered the G500 not the G63:-
Cost Obviously
Comfortable suspension.

The concept
My idea was to get the G500, change body kit to 63, and bolt on the G63 original exhaust.
But since my exhaust design has different measurements, the whole idea failed.

Options
I had more options after researching:-
1) cut and weld the G63 exhausts/mufflers.
2) remove the middle mufflers and bolt on a straight pipe to the rear muffler.
3) remove the rear muffler and bolt on straight pipe instead.
4) remove middle mufflers and bolt on smaller muffler but still continues to the rear muffler.

Real life
# 1) will not work as will void the warranty
# 2) tried it and sound was nice but very very loud under acceleration.
# 3) I heard this will cause drone. Skipped
# 4) that’s what I did and love it.

How
I custom made a straight pipe to replace both middle mufflers and bolted them on to the rear muffler. After trying them for a week, the sound was irritating. I had my old catalyst convertors from my CL 500, so I cut the custom made straight pipes and welded them on to it.

Final Result
AWESOME sound when starting, accelerating, passing, revving,

Best of all, it doesn’t ruin the warranty as I can bolt back the original exhausts whenever,

Only problem I'm still facing is how to fix the chrome tips.

This was a cheap , fast way to add beautiful sound to a quiet car.

See you all. (sorry for my English )

PS: I call exhaust and mufflers the same, to me I mean it the oval box that muffles the sound.

2005 G500 Silver
I my 2005 G500 has the same exhaust you described. I cut mine and had G63 exhaust welded on.
Your truck looks good. What was done to get the G63 look?

G500 G550 non sport version Exhaust muffler modification ( Before You order one)

Hi Keith

Since mine is 2015 it already came with the led strip and the new side mirrors .

All i did was replace the grill, front bumper using included brackets and bolts, and the wheels n rims

I also installed the wheel fenders since mine was not sport version.

Finally the tiny small antenna on the top lol

I didn't like the pull bar but might install it in the future for safety though.

polar white paint

Hope they helps
