G-Class Rentals?

I'm in the NYC area and I'm looking to rent a G-wagon (any year) for a 4 day trip to the MB U.S. factory in Tuscaloosa to watch my GLE get built. I've looked on RelayRides and Hertz Dream Cars, but the only ones I could find are hundreds of miles a way.

I was wondering if you guys know of any rental agencies in the Northeast, maybe within 100 miles of NYC, that might carry them in their fleet. I've always wanted to drive one and this trip would be a great time to test one out. I'd also rather not drive my smart on a 30 hour total road trip.

Call the hertz dream desk

They will truck a vehicle to you if they "approve" your rental request

Issue is miles, all dream cars and exotic rental places have low mile limits so you might have to lay out significant $$$

Oh that's great. I had no idea. I'll give them a call and hopefully it won't be an arm and a leg. If it is, I might be better off buying an early model one and taking the hit on depreciation when selling.

Ive rented a SLS Roadster from Hertz in LA before and the milage limit is easily worked around if the car is in stock. If you book directly through hertz dream cars they will quote you 2x the cost with the 100 mile limit. If you book something (anything) and show up to pick it up and ask to upgrade to a dream car they have on the lot (what i did) you can get a much better rate and its treated as an upgrade which retains the original bookings unlimited miles.
