New Owner - Sand Question

Hi all, just picked up a 2016 G550 magno black/red leather ... We have a drive on beach near our beach house and I'm looking for some advice from fellow owners in tips for driving in sand ... Not the easy wet packed sand that you can drive a minivan on though! I mean soft sand tips ... Low gear? Lock the differentials? Flip to manual and drive in first? Would love to hear any tips! Thanks.

I would suggest that you lower your tire pressure to about 25 lbs. and shift into low range. You will be amazed at how this truck will crawl through the sand. If you get stuck you can play around with the locking differential options. I don't think you will need to if you don't try climbing dunes.

Lower tie pressure in sand is a must, and lower gear for sure. I would at least lock the rear dif since it cant hurt, just remember to turn it off before getting back on the pavement.

Don't forget that you have to lock the center diff first before you can lock the rear.

In my experience, lower tire pressures (~20psi), low range and the center diff lock will get you through most soft sand. Add the rear diff lock, if needed.
