Anyone in the US have a G550 4x4 on order?

I'm sure capitalism and supply/demand helped fund your $150k G63 - and I'd bet a ton that you didn't pay full MSRP on it. So it's ok to pay market price if it benefits you, but not if doesn't? Look, I understand it's frustrating to call a dealer and they tell you they're asking $5k or $50k or even $500k over sticker, but unless MB (or any manufacturer) puts a strict order that their dealers sell for MSRP, then the market prevails.

Just everyone to understand. The G550 4x4 is very desirable export car for Asia, Europe and Arab countries. In order to protect our market and US costumers we have to take every precaution to make sure the cars we sell don't get exported.
After I post on the forum that we have two available G550 4x4 someone made a brand new user account (maybe CrazyMD know who that person is )
Well just to make sure this " customer" is real I quote him at $172.500 so just in case is out of US it will not make sens for him to buy it.
Now on the other hand I don't remember to hear any Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, to complain of buying some limited models over MSRP. I remember SLS Black Series selling $25k over MSRP. Now a nice used one is $200k over what was new. Many of the G550 4x4 are expecting to see an increase value for this model in the next 5 years. Real or not...will see.

Mine has finally arrived! My Client wanted a 4X4 back when they first released the concept back in 2014.
I took his deposit back in March, as I had an inkling they were bringing them Stateside.
This one is going out West.
On a side note; I left MBUSA/MBManhattan to embark on another adventure. So I will not be able to assist the same way I have before, however I am still pretty knowledgable, so if anyone needs anything, feel free to ask!
Also, I will post the Production Figures as they were before I handed my resignation in (last week), so not sure if they will change or not, as I don't think anyone has followed the production of this Truck like I have since the beginning.

Mine just arrived at the dealership. Has anyone figured out how to get the LED's on top to light up? I remember on the ordering guide they said they were disabled for the US market.

In trying to figure this out as well. Want to see if anyone in Europe can show where the switch is positioned in the car. I'm thinking all the wiring is there but just missing the switch.

I don't think there is a switch anywhere, in the prototype 4x4² I had in my shop June of 2015 anytime the motor was running the lights were on. They were not a projection beam type light more like a marker light. Pretty much just for show, kinda like the shocks.
Very likely that they could just be unplugged, but you may need to remove the headliner to get to them, not a huge deal but kinda of a pain!

That would suck if they are more of a marker light than a light bar.
Outside of that, so far the shocks are a big let down. The car drives better than a standard G Wagon...but cmon, this is the best mercedes could do with dual shocks in each corner. A joke.
My buddy is a world class off road shock tuner. Next step to see if these shocks are rebuildable and if so if its worth spending the time to tune them correctly.

I am sure there is a pretty straight forward way to connect them.
The only reason why they are not connected is because it wouldn't pass DOT with them on. Same reason why the USA gets the hilarious "Cab" Lights found on a Semi Trailer.

Yeah the shocks are a total gimmick, look cool as hell though!
If you decide to jump it be ready to have to replace or rebuild the shock or shocks that take the brunt of the landing, these are shocks not landing gear!
Not sure if they are serviceable or not, it is a KW shock by the way.

The regular G550 with adjustable suspension is probably as close as a G wagon is going to get to feeling like a Range Rover and it's really not anywhere close.
The above said, I'm still glad I traded in my 2014 Range Rover for my 2014 G550, which was followed by a 2016 G550 with adjustable suspension, and now a 2017 G63. Until I got the G63, I thought the extra horsepower was just plain silly. Now that I've passed the 1000 mile mark, I'm grinning ear to ear and really do find that the extra power is actually pretty nice.
The Range Rover was definitely nice, but the G wagon is more my style. IMHO, it's purely a personal preference thing.

I know its unrealistic. Just saying it would have been nice. For a daily driver the suspension and comfort of a Range Rover is unmatched in my opinion. To each their own
But in all reality, I love driving the 4X4. Its so much fun I can't stop smiling.
