yes hard to go wrong w/ a G in silver. To be honest I have never ever regretted owning any car in silver but the benz silver is particularly nice. In certain light I like the grey colors but they both tend to look different depending on the light. Most dealers think it is easy to locate a silver g55 till they actually start looking. 90% or more of the trucks in inventory are always black

Never saw a Palladium G55. It must be nice. Not easy to decide, I know.
He actually got a G55 last year and also sold it (almost to me) after 3000 miles. I told him he'd be back in one sooner or later. It's happening!

New safety standards in 2009 required the installation of a steel plate over the rear of the fuel tank for impact protection...exactly where the hitch mounting bracket was. When it came time to re-engineer a hitch point on the G, the engineers did so, but only for the E.U. version. By the time this was discovered, it was too late and too expensive to engineer, test and certify a N.A. version. Turns out that very few U.S. owners (2002-2008) install this option anyway, so it was left to the aftermarket world to solve this problem for those few who require it.

Too bad that the most enthusiastic G supporters care about precisely such capabilites of the G-line. Being a "All can do!" solution!
to the OP - congrats on chosing the G550 - I hope you'll love your G just as much as most of us do!

Audi Q7
I have a 08 G500 and wanted to put a 08G55AMG wheels on it..
Any feedback on how it will look? Since the tires are wider, would it stick out or is G500 and G55 same body?
thanks.
Any pics of this mod would be nice..

I have a strong interest on G55 and what an interesting discussion
So Anyway, I investigated a little bit. Found 2 Vin numbers off ebay and then look it up at EPC. Here is the result:
2010 G550 WDCYC3HF2AX184719
Front Suspension:
* Spring (Yellow-Orange) A 460 321 06 04
* Shock Absorber A 006 323 02 00
Rear Suspension:
* Spring A 460 324 07 04
* Shock Absorber A 005 326 17 00
2011 G55 AMG WDCYC7BF2BX187136
Front Suspension:
* Spring (Silver) A 463 321 05 04
* Shock Absorber A 463 323 02 00
Rear Suspension:
* Spring A 463 324 04 04
* Shock Absorber A 463 326 03 00
The part number for springs and shocks are different between AMG and 550.

thanks for confirming what I tried to convey earlier,...
confirming that the Springs are NOT THE SAME for the G55 and G550 ( at least for those years...)
Actually now seeing this EPC info, I suspect that the front shocks are the SAME, for the G55 and the G550 , and quiet the opposite of what balding thought...too funny
Hope nobody went out and bought $$$ MB stock G550 shocks for his/her G55 based on the earlier posted BS info and ended up buying the same shocks twice!!!
Thanks for the flames!
silly typos... front of G55 is lower than G550, clearly visible in that shot...maybe overall ride height the same, but front for sure not...ha
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Ride height for sure is different between my 07 G55 and 10 G550, even if some info on the web might say otherwise. The front of my G55 is quiet a bit lower than a the front of a stock 10 G550.
......I saw your other post and responded to it, before I saw this one. I think I get it. So I won't take the bait of getting dragged into a person to person forum cat fight. It is clear you don't know what u are talking about.
.....just so that folks don't get confused, below is a link.
http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/showthread.php?tid=8670&posts=2
......beginning in 2005, MB changed the springs on the G55, said springs that it shared with G500, to make the 05 and newer G55's less stiff and closer in ride stiffness with the G500/G550 and may account for whatever difference from a G55 you claim you saw in your friends G550. This is why 05 and newer G55's are less stiff than 03 and 04 G55's. This means that a G55 owner that needs an even softer ride now has zero reason to change their springs. All that needs to be changed are the shocks.
