Question Sterring column shakes!!!

My G500's sterring column shakes violently when I accelerate above 60mph. Is this due to allignment, tires or something else?
Please advise.

It could be several things but I would start with the least expensive and easiest fix. Balance your tires. I would also ask the tech to check the condition of each rim especially the fronts for a possible bent rim.

My experience is that it has to do with the actual tires. I'm on my third G-Wagen (one G-500, two G-55), they all did it. All had Yokohama tires. As it gets colder, they develop a sort of flat spot while standing. The vibration/shaking went away after a couple of miles. Last month I replaced the Yokohamas with the Pirelli Scorpions. Same shaking, still going away after a few minutes. The installer checked, rotated, checked the rims. Everything is perfect. It's the rubber.

Tires are like bricks when cold, but the main problem typically is the steering damper..

My truck is having the same issue now that it is getting colder. I have P Scorpions on Brabus wheels which have been balanced and aligned. They said to "overinflate" the tire a bit to reduce the tendency of flat spots. If the issue goes away after a few miles, then the flat spot from sitting is the likely cause.

Is this the solution then, to replace the steering damper?

In my 2003 I replaced the damper twice.
My 2005 doesn't seem to have the same problem.
