Awesome pair.

I wish my dealer can do such a dark tint for the front window glass. Is it 20% tint film ?

What you have done is just right ! Nothing better than the Original AMG body kits.

I found the G class is more unique / rare in Australia compare to Cayenne

Do you have a side by side / before - after picture with the spacers on versus off?

Thanks for the compliments. Tint is 20% on the front.

Spacers are going on in the next couple of weeks so will get some before and after pics then and post them up.

Got to use the G55 as a safety car at one of the local tarmac rallies a couple of weekends ago. Kept up with an STI on one stage, pretty scary in the corners but impressive for a 2.5t live axle 4WD..

Some pics:

Very nice looking car! Don't worry about your phone pics, especially in this day and age of multi mega-pixel phone cameras. :-)

By the way my brother has a new 2012 G55 and he fitted H&R spacers on but on the second day he hit a big pothole and as he accelerated out the bolts holding the spacer to the hub bent and came off. Luckily he hadn't built up a lot of speed so the fender fell onto the wheel before it left the G completely. The MB workshop straightened the lower bent section of the front left fender for him and removed all the spacers.

Since then my brother is no longer a fan of fenders. The MB service advisor used to work in the middle east and also said that the spacers can be trouble. He had seen many issues with them.

Not to scare you but have you heard anything like this before?

Not surprised to hear that as the original bolts that hold the wheel on the hub are too short to be used with spacers.

I am having some longer custom made bolts machined up to ensure the wheel and spacer won't come off.

The H&R spacers come with new bolts...what size spacers was he using. The 30mm ones are what I would recommend...any more than that and the stresses will probably be too much. In Dubai I see everything from 45mm to 60mm spacers being used and I'm not sure how long the bolts will last.

Is anyone else having trouble viewing the pictures on this thread? Have the pictures been removed? I'm really interested in seeing them based on everyone's comments.

G55 AMG
spacers/adapters

Does any one know of adapter to convert from the original G55 hub to the more common 112 patern?

You might want to check H&R to see if they make a spacer bolt pattern adapter.

Blacking out your car.

What is the right way to paint the push bar, side steps and other bits. Is it anodized or something for durability? Also, if one wants to remove badges, is the heater and fishing wire the best method?

Thank you.

The side steps were painted using the standard Mercedes paint code and formula with a double clear coating for durability. Have not had any issues at all with paint coming off or wearing and the side steps are used daily.

As per the above the guys prep'd everything back to bare metal and started from scratch with the normal merc formula and clear coats. The badges just came off using some heat, no wire was used.

Beautiful truck!!!
Can you share more info on the ipad kit you had installed. Is it tante grated into your car stereo so that it plays music thru your car speakers or you just connect it thru Bluetooth?
Thank You
