Ok, so after speaking with Jesse at Renntech this AM, it doesn't seem that the transmission upgrade is critical for me, at least based on how I anticipate using the added power. Moreover, he confirmed that if I wanted do do it I would in fact need to ship the vehicle to Florida. Simply not happening.

Ok. Lets start with the exclusions...I won't be doing AWD burnouts, on asphalt or dirt. I won't be taking it to the track to test it's maximum limits. I won't be red-lining in nearly 99% of driving scenarios. What I will be doing is hauling *** in the passing lane every time I find myself behind a Prius or equivalent and need to burn off the frustration. That sums it up.

The interior is the standard black with piano black lacquer wood trim. The ride as compared to my G55K is a bit less "harsh," more sedan like if anything. Still a stiff G, but more comfortable over bumps and potholes, etc. Not a single rattle like my previous 3 G wagons all suffered.
I got 70k for my 08 G55k trade, probably (or certainly) could have done better selling it on my own but I needed to perform quick. I didn't pre-order the G63, someone else did and they passed on it and there was a lot of interest in it from other parties...I had no time to waste. If anyone here is looking for a super-clean G55k with only 27k miles, check out MB of Escondido. I upgraded all of it's exterior to the 2009+ grille, rims, etc.
Happy motoring,
Adam

Do you still have all the stock '08 items you removed from your G55? In particular, Headlights, fog lights, harnesses (if changed), and Tail lights.
I'd be interested in them if you still have them. Please let me know.

How is your project coming along??

I do have some parts from all 3 previous G's...let me get a handle on exactly what I have and I'll let you know...I also have some new parts that I purchased from Vlad that I never got around to using...give me a couple of days, I have it all in a local storage facility.
How is your project coming along??

Thanks! Will wait for the list of your goodies.
The project is almost complete (So I hope). I think I've solved all the install issues and now I'm just waiting on some Audi gaskets to go between the Kleemann Headers and downpipes.
The Audi dealer here in the Philippines won't sell me any parts from their inventory since I don't have any Audi to install it on. That's another story altogether. Anyway, in another day or so I'll have the gaskets Cory sent me from Colorado and hopefully that will be that and I'll get to enjoy finally. Keeping my fingers crossed.

They are for sure and let me also assure you that the break dust is ridiculous...car was washed less than 15 miles ago and the rims are already filthy! I am also quickly learning after having 3 silver G Wagons how much of a ***** black is to keep clean!! Thank goodness I belong to a "carwash club" right across the street from my office
To that point, can anyone else with a Black G or benz give their take on how often to have it waxed? I don't want to over-do it and my car is generally in my personal garage, if not office garge...or outdoors only temporarily while seeing clients offsite...again, any input on this detail would be appreciated. Of course my "carwash club" seems to believe that I should wax it weekly but that sounds overkill to me. Am I wrong??

At most, you could consider waxing once a month and having the paint buffed annually. Anything more than that is overkill if you're using wax safe soap/detergent. I wax my Aston Martin 3-4 times a year and have had it buffed twice in the seven years of ownership and the paint looks great despite the fact that Aston doesn't have as durable paint as MB.

If the sealant is done correctly, it will last through several washes and a couple of months and give you 90%+ of the shine of a wax [if you can even tell a difference - most people cannot].

I was in for warranty service a few weeks ago (a faulty sunroof belt) and there were no issues with my Renntech ECU. No re-flashing or concerns is what I should say. The dealerships will actually sell Renntech products so I don't think you need to worry. I ordered mine direct from Renntech (to avoid sales tax from the dealer) but the dealership was happy to install it. Installation takes a whole 5 minutes. I hope this helps. I will also say/reiterate that the added horsepower and torque is ridiculous. Stock, it's already plenty fast, but for an extra $3500 you more or less have a G65.

That's awesome - all to save a couple hundred bucks on a $3,500 power upgrade on an already 544hp $140k car. Sounds exactly like something I would do - glad to know I'm not the only guy with $100k+ cars who is always trying to save $200 here/$200 there.

Yep, I'm a financial advisor and it all adds up! Admittedly, my weakness, given my profession, is cars...

Yeah, you can see the horror on my FA's face when I tell him I bought another car. I finally got a test drive in the G63 today and I agree with most owners that say it's quite a bit better than the G55 - making my order on Monday. Not that it needs help, but how much better does it sound with the ECU?
