Facelifting G55 to G63
#26
.....We may just be going around in circles for no reason. I simply saying that the g63 bumper will fit the G55 or G550. The job is being done by a body shop. These people fix cars that are much bigger problems. I don't see this being a big deal. If you say the fenders, need to be modified, then okay the fenders get modified and bumper gets put on and problem solved. I just had my entire engine taken out, bored and sleeved. So G63 bumper is not something I worry about. While I love G-wagons, they are still just a cars. More than other forums, we here tend to mystify what otherwise would be no big deal in other forums like the W211 forum.

......I have the bumper. You can just get that from the dealer. That's what I did. It wasn't difficult. I don't have the side mirrors. I am not do much trying to change everything, I am mostly turning to install larger heat exchangers behiind the front bumper. There is no space behind the G55 bumper. I suppose it the car looks odd after the bumper installation, then I'll change the mirrors too. If you want the mirrors, that too is easy. You can get it from the dealer or fourbufourclub also has them for sale. It is a direct swap. No modification required
......as a side note. I was surprised that the oem G63 bumper is quite flimsy. It is made of plastic. Only the anchor point for the brush guard is made of a hard marterial. But the bumper manages to look quite rugged on the car.

Brake upgrade?
I have upgraded my headlights to Xenon and also have the daytime running lights on my 2002 g500. I also have the updated grille but will be doing the G63 grille and bumper. (I'll post pictures later in the week)
Has anyone done the brake upgrades? I am looking to get AMG brake calipers. Is this as simple as replacing the calipers and pads? Or am I over simplifying this?
Here is a pair I found on ebay:

MBWorld Fanatic!
I saw a picture of someone in Dubai that retrofitted the AMG Carbon Ceramic brakes (W212 part number) onto a G. Don't know if it was a bolt on though- but from this, it seems that installing an E brake kit is possible.

2013 G 63 AMG
Sorry guys, other than MB marketing material that mentions specifically that the G63 shares braking components with the ML63, I have no additional technical information.

I might go down to an independent MB repair show and ask. I won't be down there until this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks!

I never made it down to the repair shop that weekend. It's about a half hour from my home, and I have a newborn. So it's tough for me to get down there.

Where did you get the side mirrors? I need those too, but wasn't sure how the install was since i do not have turn signals.
