I was just wondering if anyone has replaced or upgraded the HK speaker system in a G-Wagon. If anyone has please advise if you are happy with your upgrade and what system you went with. In my opinion I feel that the HK system Mercedes put in the G-Wagon is truly lackluster. For the money Mercedes should have offered a B&O system or a Burmester system. If someone could advise that would be amazing.

I was actually surprised by the HK. I had the upgraded Meridian system (not the top level, but the mid-level) in my 14 RR SC, which was better than the G's HK, but not a huge difference in quality. That being said, I only listen to the loud channels on S/XM (when I'm not enjoying the roar of the 5.5). I might actually like the engine note more than the R8 V10 or the Ferrari V8 - or maybe it's just because it's new.

hahaha I agree, I enjoy listening to the deep roars of the 5.5 but sometimes I just wanna enjoy my music too lol. In my RR Autobiography I have the 29 speaker, 1700w Meridian system that is mind blowing lol, wish there was something similar in the G.


So you never did an upgrade in the speaker system in the G? I will do something with it! hahah

I have the Burmeister in my Cayenne turbo S and it is superb.
The HK in the G leaves a lot to be desired.

Agreed! Need to upgrade the G's system ASAP! just want to get feedback

I think the guys at ICON upgraded the sound system when they customized the G55 for a customer. Might search that out.

I have a Ferrari with a Reuss sound system. It is the ultimate! It is not a boom box but the top of the line high end audio system. Expensive but if you want the best this is it. They probably have one for a G wagon. Each system is custom engineered for the particular vehicle.
