Hi-

I can't figure out what is making a squeaking noise that can be heard inside the cabin when driving. It sounds like a metal-on-metal squeak...like a hamster wheel. It's only when the car is moving, and seems to be coming from under the hood. I tried to upload a movie of it but can't...can send it to you separately if you think you can detect it from hearing it.

Would really appreciate some help...it's probably a quick fix and don't want to spend $1k having a dealership look for it! Perhaps it's a common noise...

I just brought my 2014 G63 in for a metal sounding squeak/rattle from rear cargo area. I thought it was under the headliner. They kept the car for a day and correctly diagnosed the rear door latch and seals needed lubricating. 2 different part nos for lubes were used.
Maybe your hood mechanism needs a lube. These noises often seem like they come from one area but in fact are at another.. good luck

Thanks, I've had to lube the rear latches and doors as well a few times on this G55 and a G500 Grand Edition.

Does anyone know of particular areas that might need greased under the hood that could cause the metal squeaking noise inside the cabin?

Squeaking near the front end can also be from a slightly loose hood latch. If the hood has some wiggle room once fully latched, the squeak may be coming from this. It can be fixed by adjusting the bump-stops on the underside of the hood (one on each side), so the hood closes more tightly. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I do have issues with my hood...MB tried to fix it, a body shop tried to fix it...but it's still not shutting properly and wobbles a bit when driving at high speeds. I'll have that fixed and see if it solves the squeak too...

squeaks can be from the hood as mentioned and the engine mounting brackets.
I had mine fixed by service last week. Nice and quiet for now.

Check the brackets supporting the radiator
Went weeks trying to get to the bottom of the squeaking noise when driving at low speeds. Not the suspension, not sway bar, not doors. Bloody radiator support!!

I have squeaking sounds while I'm driving as well, but it's more like whistling. My mechanic came to the conclusion that it was coming from the pulley of the supercharger
