Hi, gang! It's been about a month, if not a little more, since I was regularly on this site (or any other site, for that matter). Lots to catch up on, for sure- but I figured I'd try to hit the ground running with a G55 / G63 AMG rear caliper appearance upgrade that we've been working on while I was out. With its imposing presence and unmistakable swagger, Mercedes-Benz’ G Wagens are the undisputed style kings of the luxury SUV market. Once AMG get their hands on the upscale G and turns them into G55, G63, and even G65 AMGs, however, they become something truly special. The AMG Gs deliver power and performance unlike anything else. As you can imagine, the latest AMG-built Gs are incredibly good, but there is one area that could use some improvement.


G63 AMG Rear Brake Calipers (Stock)


Even with the $20K AMG Performance Studio Package on top of the AMG’s $149K asking price, the rear calipers on the G Wagens just aren’t on the same level as the rest of the car. That’s where Speedriven comes in, with a little help from AMG themselves.

Speedriven has developed a new, rear brake caliper appearance upgrade using the same four-piston Brembo calipers AMG has, in the past, fitted to its heaviest cruisers.

“AMGs have always had excellent brakes,” explains Speedriven’s Jo Borras. “They look great on the Es and CLSs and SLs, but on the G Wagens they just didn’t seem to put a lot of effort into making them look good. Now, maybe because they figured G Wagen buyers wouldn’t care, or because it’s a live rear axle- but, either way, they’re just not at the same level as the rest of the car. With our kit, you’re giving the G a much more upscale look. But, most importantly, you still have those excellent AMG Brembo brakes. Your car is still 100% a Mercedes/AMG.”


Four-piston AMG Rear Brake Upgrade


That’s them. The same Brembo brakes (complete with Mercedes stampings) used on a number of other AMG cars are now available on your G Wagen. And, yes, the little vinyl “SD” stickers are over the clear, and peel right off.
