1970-1971 300sel 6.3?
I have a never ending fascination with classic Mercedes that predate me (I was born in 1990) and I'm looking to take on a project. This particular model is one I can't stop researching and marveling over. I'm wondering, what is a fair unrestored price for these and what should I be worried about? My dad has been in the body work field his whole life and has restored some meticulous auction cars like 70 hemi superbirds etc. and he has offered to help me do any paint/body repair/assembly but I'm afraid of the mechanics. I really don't want to buy anything pre-restored so I'm seeking advice. I lurk on this forum a lot and really value the passion you guys have.

Ive seen those cars in crush-worthy condition going for 5 figures. Good luck finding one.
1. Bodywork is the least of your concerns with this model. Its not a car for mechanics. Its a car for technicians. Not sure if the 6.3 had fuel injection but my 72 did. Remember, most cars didnt get them til 1990s. It has air ride suspension most cars still dont have that. Its a great challenge but very expensive and time consuming. Not your average 1970s fixer upper. A true challenge to fully restore.

I have a dozen of these in "need of restoration".
Different grades.
They will always keep their value.
All parts and advice/literature is out there.
PM me, if interested.
Good Luck
