Maybe I can get some input here...

I know that there has to be folks on here that have older MB that they bought that were not covered under a factory warrenty and that they have bought and used a 3rd party warrenty company. I stopped at my local MB Dealership and got a quote for a ZURICH policy of "Standard" for 36/36K miles for $4888 on a 2006 E350 with 79K miles....is this a good price? or should I go with a company called "CarChex" that is only $100 less? Has anyone used either of these and if so what comments doyou have?

What company do you have?

Thanks in advance.

I do not use warranties like this, as I feel that unless something major goes, it's not worth the extra cash. I am capable and have the resources to do most of my own work. I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but it is maybe "food for thought". It also depends on how long you plan to keep the car, a year or two? maybe 3-4?

Thanks, I am thinking that also. Maybe 3-6 yrs ? I ony paid $10.5 for it so anything over $6k I might dump it or sell for parts.

At 10.5k, paying 4k for a warranty seems a bit absurd. The purchase price vs the warranty price is just too close. What I would do if you can, set aside that 4k for repairs that may or may not pop up. That way, if the car is reliable and never gives you any major problems, you still have your money, and if something does come up, it is already covered.
