Help.

2001 e320 sedan. Had the car detailed 1 week ago. After detail tranny went into limp mode.I Let the car sit for a week disconnected battery. P is still not showing on dash. The only way to shift to park is to release the brake (scary when the car rolls). If I have to replace the shifter assm does it have to be flashed to the vehicle as well? Or does the original just need to be flashed? How long does flashing take if necessary?

Did they wash the motor or that area? Did you get codes read? It sounds like they got the transmission computer module wet. You might need a new module since it should be dry by now. Easiest would be a used module, new ones sometimes need MB to program them to the car. Get codes read

I have watched how to change the shifter assm. Apparently it is sensative to spills. The carpet was pretty wet when they finished detailing. If I change it do I need the shifter coded or flashed to the car?
