Floor mats & Cargo area liners

My Weathertech mats are on their way to me. I'm guessing the mat doesn't have cut-outs to access the tie-down rings in the floor. I had to take my dogs to the vet the other day, so I used the cargo net to keep them in the back and I really like how it used the tie-downs to secure it. I put towels down since I don't have the mat yet & my barfy dog did fine, but it was only a few miles to the vet. Guess it's time to sharpen the X-Acto knife and make some cut-outs for the tie-downs.

AutoSport Clear Utility Mats
I ordered these to use with the OEM berber mats. I got the front and rear 4 piece set. For those interested in the Hexomats, I think these are identical to them except they are clear instead of colored. Since I don't have my GL yet I placed one over my S550 mat so you could see how they look. I had clear plastic over my mats in the S and it worked real well.
I also ordered the berber 3rd row runner and the berber cargo (seat up) mats which have not yet been received.

Curious
I wonder why people in milder climates use mats to cover their mats at all. Why not just replace older mats with oem replacements when necessary. It has been my experience that oem mats start to disintegrate in about 2 years no matter what I did to protect them so I stopped buying mats for a second layer of protection some years ago.

My car is so clean that you can almost eat off the floor.
My wife's car is so cluttered that you can't even find the floor.

In defense to the wives, my cars are always spotless while my husband's cars are full of garbage. I'm the one who takes the cars in to be washed & serviced. Prior to being married, my husband would literally drive a car into the ground. He'd fill it with gas and that was it; never bothered to change the oil or anything. After seeing him destroy 2 vehicles by neglecting the maintenance, I took over the maintenance of the vehicles for our family.
Odd role reversal, I know, but my Dad is a car guru and would kill me if I had a messy car. I'm 40 years old and still concerned about what my Dad thinks!

Forgot to add that you are also the one who posts about the car on this site
Kid you I not, wife was walking by this AM when I was reading and the post had a pic of a GL in it. She instantly lit up about how much time I was spending on the car

I'm active on several other forums (motorcycling & dogs) and my husband used to complain that I spend too much time on the forums. However, he has since discovered a Rolex forum and a pen forum (his hobbies) so now he understands the addiction.

Got my Weathertech 2-piece liner today & it fits great. I'm very happy there there is no space between the 2 pieces -- they kind of interlock together. It'll get tested tomorrow when we take the barfy dog to the vet.

Anyone heard of a liner for the cargo area that protects the sides and carpet on the hatch. Considering getting an upholstery shop to make some with velcro backs. Got the all season mb's for all 3 rows and weathertech for cargo. Will pickup husky over the hump for 2nd this weekend.

Not sure how exactly they will fit, but Autosport offers liners that go up the sides, and up the seat back.

I've always been a car junkie...I get it from my Dad. He is now retired, but his business was restoring antique automobiles & renting them to the studios for movies/commercials.

Forums are great............I belong ( or belonged at one time ) to this one, the Corvette forum, the Prius forum and the Jeep forum. There is the fun of talking with others about similar issues......but the biggest benefit is the vast knowledge base you have when it comes time to deal with your service provider.......it has really made difference for me many times over. Now if they would just deliver my GL!!!!!!!

Received both the Hexo mat for the rear cargo area (full size) and the WeatherTech 2pc version.
After inspecting the Hexo mat I'm going to return it. I like the design and the fact that it is much heavier than the weathertech model. Unfortunately, I can tell where a template was laid on top of the material and it was simply cut out. The person doing it messed up on one side and it looks like they recut it instead of starting over. Very messy. Every tried to wrap a gift and you cut the paper not in a very straight line so you backed up and started over? Thats what it looks like. I can picture a big roll of this stuff and hundreds of mat templates hanging on a wall and someone grabbing one and cutting it out and shipping it off. All for $99.
As mentioned, above the 2 pcs weathertech isn't the greatest but at least I can use the 3rd row more conveniently this way. Its all personal choice.
I took some photos and I will post them later.

Sorry to hear the Hexomat did not work out for you. Mine was cut pretty well. The only *minor* complaint I can make is that it is not notched where the third row seat belts anchor. Surely not as nice a fit as the Weathertech, but I like the 100% coverage with rears seats down. No dirt falling between sections.

Mats
I bought the berber for the cargo and 3rd row in tan from AutoSport. I will use the OEM's for front and 2nd row and use the clear utitity mats from AutoSport. If I don't like the setup then I will order front and 2nd row in berber.

I just got the Weathertech and am very happy with it, although I don't think it would "fold and open with 3rd row". I usually leave my 3rd row down as I have a dog or two back there. If I have the 3rd row up, I take that section of the Weathertech out.
