Static Radio/SAT -

So the radio and SAT stations have been extremely static-filled. I tried calling Sirius and that was to no avail. I mean, even the radio stations are completely static-filled.

I thought it might have been because of the wooded area I live in but I was on Turnpike and dealing with this mess. Anything I can do before I drop the GL off to the service guys and let them deal with the static and squeaky brakes?

Interesting with the static. The 3rd or 4th day I had my GL the same thing happened on all audio sources including my iPod. I got home shut off the engine, waited a minute and re-started and no static since - 2500 miles. I had forgotten about it till your post. If they do find something please post in case this happens again or if it happens to others. Good luck.

This is some electrical demon in the GL not sirius. Static when present will on all frequencies and telephone too. I had a GL 450 last year that the dealer bought back for other reasons, and now have a GL 320 and both have periodic static, that goes away with a restart. Never bothered to have dealer look into it, I think there was a post last fall of same problem, and there might be a fix.

On our existing SUV, I've gotten static sometimes from our brake controller for the trailer, but only on AM radio stations. XM has always been crystal clear though, so would expect the same from Sirius.

Let us know if you find anything else out during your service.

I envy you your XM. I have had XM in three other vehicles, and so far I've been disappointed with Sirius. First, there are a couple of channels on XM that I love but can't get on Sirius - because they're XM-specific. Next, I have to be stopped at a red light under an overpass for at least 10 seconds for XM to be affected. if I just pass under an overpass with the Sirius, half the time I lose it. Last, there's no live traffic available (very nice to have, especially in estimating time to arrive during GPS guidance) and the traffic channel they have for Phoenix shares San Diego, so it's pretty useless unless you happen upon it at the top of the report.

But I'm not bitter or nothin'.

I'm sorry to hear that Pilot. I was afraid of that too!

I really enjoy XM, and when I heard that MB was Sirius, my heart sunk. I wish they would give us the option like Audi does. When we bought our A6, we could get either radio installed.

I'm hoping that if the XM/Sirius merger is allowed to happen, that service will improve on the Sirius radios.

Well, take it with a grain of salt; that's the very worst of Sirius, and XM has had its share of troubles (note the recent signal degredation for half the nation due to a bad software update). But I agree; while usually I'm against one company providing all the service, I think this merger will actually improve service. And maybe get Howard Stern off the air once and for all!

(I'm sorry - did I say that out loud? )

If they don't, we may not have either. I prefer XM to Sirius as well.
